Scrap Your Trip Adds 179 Items + BasicGrey & Cloud 9 Pre-Order

Entry Filed under: New Items Added

I think this was my best Mother’s Day yet! We decided to get our Disney passes back, and the kids “surprised” me with a trip to Disney. It was so cute to see them try SO hard to keep the secret! The weather was great, the lines weren’t too long and we didn’t have to push a stroller. It was all good. :-) I absolutely adore all the handmade gifts and cards on Mother’s Day. I can picture my kids making them and their love just shines through all their “treasures”. Pictures of them are below. Both of the kids filled out a “All About My Mom” page. I like Logan’s better…he said his Mom was 25. :-) It has been unbelievable this week to see the wrath of Mother Nature on the earth. The cyclone in Myanmar…tornadoes across Missouri, Oklahoma and Georgia…the earthquake in China…the wildfires burning here in Central Florida. I feel so helpless when I see the images…so grateful that it isn’t me …so guilty for being grateful it isn’t me. I want to help…do something. So I had an idea. We have a lot of “extra” scrapbook supplies. Samples, freebies, things sent to us by mistake. We’ve boxed them up and we’re selling raffle tickets. There are over 10 boxes and they have a retail value of at least $100. The raffle tickets are $10.00 and we will choose the winners in a random drawing on Friday, May 16th. The entire amount of the money raised from the raffle tickets will be donated to the American Red Cross. Scrap Your Trip is going to match the donation up to $2,000 and we will also be donating the cost of the shipping. We’ve done this before and sent the funds to an orpahage in Africa. You get the chance to get some great scrapbook supplies…I get to clean out the storage room…the American Red Cross gets additional funds to help those who need it and we all get to feel good that we made a difference in the world today. Click here to buy a ticket: http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/syt-raffle.html. We have 179 new items this week. Reminisce has a brand new line of embellishments called “Jet Setters”. They are 3-dimensional and are available for all 50 states and 11 countries. Creative Imaginations has two new collections for Italy and Alaska. We have more sports and games papers, stickers and rub-ons from Scrappin’ Sports & More – even a dartboard paper! The SYT Design Room focused on Australia, Swimming and Diving, Equestrian (for all you who have been requesting it) and Military. We even did Mother’s Day diecuts so you can scrapbook your day (hope it was as good as mine!). Click here to see them all: http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/51408.html. BasicGrey released a new line on Monday called “Euphoria” and we have it this week for pre-order. I love the copy they wrote for it! “Slip into summer amid enchanting patterns splashed with sparkling amethyst, willow green, lagoon blue and verbena pink. Relax in happiness and well-being, while indulging in your own personal state of delirium.” We also have two collections from Cloud 9 called Max’s Backyard and Sunrise Smoothie. Estimated ship date on these items is June 11. Click here to take a look: http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/pre-order.html. Today is the last day to order the Kimberly Poloson pre-order. The Blue Awning and Mira shipments were delayed to us from K&Co, but the boxes are supposed to be delivered today. Fancy Pants arrived yesterday, and we’ll be working to get those orders out to you as quickly as we can. As always, thanks SO MUCH for your business! I feel so sorry for those poor people in Myanamar…they had nothing and now they have even less than nothing. At least the Chinese have a responsive government. Which brings me back to the USA and the KATRINA VICTIMS from almost THREE years ago who are still waiting for the United States Government to put their city back together. I am ALL FOR AID to foreign countries as we ALL occupy this earth together, but let’s start at HOME !!!!! Every time I see New Orleans, I feel physically ill. To let a once beautiful city like that remain in ruins is unacceptable to me as an American Citizen. What if that happened here in my neighborhood on Long Island? What would happen to me, my family, my friends and neighbors? Tragedy is everywhere and Mother Nature is MAD. Me too…

What a wonderful easy way to let us help the Red Cross no matter where they decide they need funds to go.
A lot of people forget, or don’t know, how important the Red Cross can be to military families. They are the ones who can really help a family in crisis reach a family member overseas and arrange personal communication or even an emergency leave home if needed.
I was raised as an Air Force brat in the 50′s and 60′s and remember how important they were when we, as a family, were stationed overseas and there was a death in the family back home. And they are still doing the same for families today.
Liz I agree with you also. I can’t believe I have an 80+ yr old in law still living in a FEMA trailer in Lake Charles from Hurricame Rita that came right behind Katrina!!!!

Julie, thanks so much for the wonderfully creative way you figured how to help the Red Cross. I wanted to do something but didn’t kow how to do it, and you gave me that chance. Whether I win a raffle box or not, it was a fun way to send a donation to be used where needed. I, personally, was so worried about the panda research facilities in China as both facilities were near the epicenter of the earthquake in China. I have finally found out that both research facilities and all pandas are well and accounted for. The pandas from the National Zoo came from the Wolong research facility and at least three pandas from the San Diego zoo have been returned to Wolong to continue the research to aid pandas. I know it may seem silly to worry about animals when many people were injured, killed or are still missing; but the pandas mean so much to me that they were one of the first things I thought of after reading about the earthquake.
So again thanks for allowing us to help.

I guess I’m just not as smart as I’d like people to think I am, but I tried to figure out how to start a “thread” on the Forum and just can’t figure out how to do it….

What I want to ask is if there is an “I’m Looking For…..” area. If SYT doesn’t have something we need, is there a way to leave a message for our Scrapping Buddies? Someone knows where to find EVERYTHING!!!

I’m looking for paper that depicts logs – not the long dimension, but rather the “cut” ends of logs. It is for a church project.

And you’re right, with the size order I placed this morning, 20 bucks more for Red Cross was not a problem….not when you consider what these folks are going through. I agree that it is a tragedy that so many folks are still struggling in New Orleans after those storms, but I don’t think one should compare the “life-sustenance” aid that is being sent to foreign countries with the hopes or expectations that some have that “someone” will rebuild their home for them.

Our church here in Illinois, along with literally thousands of others, is working in New Orleans and surrounding areas…..we’ve just sent our 19th group of workers down there for a week to help. Some of these folks have just tragic stories to tell. Maybe the new governor of Louisana will have the courage to do an actual audit of the zillions of dollars that have already been sent down there to find out what has really happened to some of that money. It is quite pathetic to see people who have scammed money that was intended for the suffering people….one on television not long ago admitted to all kinds of thievery, having used the money for plastic surgery – - – she was QUITE proud of her before/after bustline – - – and “didn’t understand” why she is going to have to pay the money back! Oh, really! Our tax dollars at work, I guess.

Julie, thanks SO much for putting that request on the Forum…One of these days I’ll take the time to figure that whole thing out. I see no one has come up with anything yet….if not, I can at least report back to the committee at church that I tried! My last two orders have been just great stuff! I’m so excited each time I come home from work and see the box from SYT has arrived (which seems to be about every week!!!!!) Anyway, it always arrives in A-1 condition, and always really, really nice product. Thanks a bunch. Karen

    Karen-

Glad I could help. I knew I hadn’t seen it, but if anyone can find it, it’s the ladies on the forum. Thanks for being such a great customer!

Love all the new stock as always – Also what a great Idea with the raffle
    - I wanted to donate blood after Sept 11 when I married in Vegas in Oct 01 but
being British and our country having CJD I was not allowed ,so feels nice to be
able to help across the pond!!

Its a real shame to hear that those poor souls in New Orleans are not receiving the help which as a country the USA can quite easliy afford – here in the UK we don’t see or hear much about what is happening there now – sadly old news I suppose apart from the fact people are still living it every day.
Each week this world throws some real blows – Its our job to help to make it a better place where ever we can.Lyns

    Hi,
Are you going to post the names of those who won the raffle? It would be fun to be able to congratulate everyone. And to find out how much was raised.

    Thanks
    Susan
