Scrap Your Trip Adds 154 Items + Basic Grey Limited Qty

Entry Filed under: New Items Added

There are things I know and things I don’t know and never has that been more evident than this week.  We are located in Orlando, Florida and we closed the office early yesterday to send everyone home to prepare for a wicked rainstorm from Tropical Storm Fay that never materialized (at least not here).  Even though it’s "only" a Tropical Storm, it can still do quite a bit of damage.  Fay was supposed to come ashore on the west side of Florida, dump a bunch of rain across the state, and head out to sea to fade away.  Storms aren’t supposed to strengthen over land…Fay wasn’t supposed to get out into the Atlantic and then become a hurricane.  There are hundreds of meteorologists working on computer models around the clock, and none of them predicted this.  It’s just a reminder to me that nature is very unpredictable and no matter how many Weather Channel meteorologists say that they know what is going to happen, they don’t.  As far as the weather is concerned, we only know after it’s over.

But this storm also reminded me of something I do know for sure…Given the opportunity, people are good.  We were driving home from the beach on Monday and passed convoy of trucks from a power company in North Carolina.  It immediately brought me back to 2004, after Florida was hit with 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks.  Hundreds of trucks from power companies all over the Southeast came to help us get the electricity working again.  They were here on their own time, away from their families, working 24/7 to help.  The North Carolina power trucks on Monday didn’t know for sure where they were going, or even if we would need them, but they came anyway.  I am grateful that they came to help and even more grateful of their reminder of the kindness of my fellow humans.

We have over 150 new items this week, plus the new Basic Grey collections.  We have a bunch of new kits from Applegate Productions, including one for the Disney Cruise.  We have some gorgeous new travel papers from one of my favorite vendors, Paper House, and Smoky Mountain die cuts from Paper Wizard.  We have lots of sports, including soccer, volleyball, softball and even miniature golf!  It’s Back-To-School time, so we have some great papers from Best Creations along with SYT exclusive designs.  We even have a customized "Princess Ears Hat" that can be "embroidered" with your name.  Click here to see them all:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/82008.html

We also have the 3 just released new collections from Basic Grey; Ambrosia, Eva and Offbeat.  They are available in a limited quantity.  Unlike the last time, when we put them for sale on a pre-order basis, these are actually in the warehouse and we will not be re-ordering (it would take 6-8 weeks to get another order anyway!).  To make it easier, we put the papers together in paper collections – one of each design.  As usual, we also have the matching Bazzill packs.  Don’t save them in your wishlist – I anticipate that they will be sold out in a few days – and I don’t want you to be disappointed.  Click here to take a look:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/newbasicgrey.html.

As always, thanks for your business!

I just discovered your site from a random google search. My local store did not have a particular die cut and I went searching. Boy, did I find a gem. The product was wonderful. But more impressive are the emails that you send. I really feel that you care about your customers. I feel that you are a friend even though I have only gotten a few emails. Your messages stick with me. Thank you for sending them adn for such a great company.

    Hi!
While in England for 6 weeks this summer getting to know my newest grandson, I took so many pictures (948 to be exact!). While there, I Googled “England scrapbooking supplies” and your web-site came up. I LOVE IT! I ordered supplies twice while there, and once since getting home. You have such hard to find supplies and so many of them. We have had several wonderful happenings in our family recently (new baby, police academy graduate, engagement) and I have found unique die-cuts, stickers and papers for all of these memories. I also enjoy very much your e-mails and thoughtful comments on life. Thank you!

I am new to scrapbooking, and am always looking for new items to use. I am also a person that doesn’t like to stay on the beaten path, so “usual” selection at most stores can quickly bore me.
I found your website via a Google search, and instantly fell in love with the selection. I placed my first order and was not disappointed with the product, especially the die cuts…I am excited about starting my new scrapbook pages! In the meantime, I am building a long wish list. I am looking forward to many purchases.
    Keep your emails coming!

    Hey, Julie!
I’ve lived in Florida all of my life, most of it in Stuart on the Treasure Coast, and agree that there is no true predictability to our weather, expecially when it comes to Hurricane season. When you live in a state where the sun shines while it rains, and it can our down rain in your back yard and not even be misting raining in your front yard, every day can be an adventure!

I will never forget the seemingly endless line of power company trucks streaming into Florida after each hurricane. 2004 was indeed a banner year for all us, but these guys and girls now come every year, many of them sleeping in the cabs of their trucks, to help a bunch of total strangers in distress.

I’ve really enjoyed watching “you” grow through the website and your running commentary, and am proud to live in the same state with a business such as yours, and even prouder to have been a client and participated in some small way in the company’s growth!

Thanks, and God bless you and your staff!

Glad you all fared well down in central Florida. We jetted into the office up in here Jax, got the money clips packed up and we’re battening down. We’re 10+ hours out and already have gusts over 20 mph and trees are waving.

Thanks for all the great emails Julie, I do enjoy them.

    Julie,
You are absolutely right when it comes to weather predictions from our local news & weather people – - only believe 1/2 of what you hear , and more of what you SEE – - – - gosh, we can’t even get the ballots counted correctly on election day , why would we be able to predict Mother Nature’s fury ?
Love the emails you send – I’ve been a big fan of Scrap Your Trip from the very beginning, and look forward to many more years of Scrapping & Shopping with you !
Take care, stay dry – and be safe !

    Julie,
I have to say that reading this e-mail brought back memories of 2004 to me also. I’m in Winter Haven, pretty much right in the path of 3 of those hurricanes from 2004. Isn’t it wonderful to see our faith in our fellow man being restored.

Just wanted to say, I love reading all your emails. They are such a joy to read. Now I’m off to check out all the new stuff.

I love your site. You have so many unique items in so many different catagories. The die cuts are fantastic! I look forward to the emails and updates

With all the back to school things, any chance of seeing ” move in day at college dorm” items? We just took our oldest for her freshman year–talk about a bittersweet moment!

Take care and keep the emails coming!

I live in Orlando, not far from I Drive. Can I visit you store and purchase supplies?

  • 10. kathleen&hellip  |  August 21st, 2008 at 10:04 pm

Since Scrap Your Trip is my “most favorite” place to purchase the “bestest” of supplies and paper, and since I love to read your blog and, of course, all of the comments, I HOPE and PRAY this comment finds you all safe. I know you’re not dry — I have seen too many pix of what Orlando and surrounding area looks like — but safe and secure is what is important.

My parents next door neighbor & good friend was among one of those from NC power company who helped in FL in 2004. He was one of very first ones to go.

I hate to see things like this happen to people. Talk about stuff not supposed to happen from hurricanes, look at the recent flooding in Ruidoso, NM, as well caused by Dolly who turned into depression after passing through TX & Mexico. We live in Fort Worth & didn’t get drop of rain. They’re 10 hrs west of us far from the ocean & got the after effects. We were there the week after & so sad to see people living out in tents in their yard because their houses were either washed away or so damaged from the flooding. Makes you thankful for the good people who help out and what you have while you have it.
