Scrap Your Trip Adds 206 Items and 206 S*A*L*E Items
Entry Filed under: New Items Added
It’s a great day to be an American. (It’s a cold day to be an American…it is currently 31 degrees in sunny Orlando, Florida!) One of the lines in yesterday’s Inauguration speech that really spoke to me was the following: "Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – or for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things – some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom."
This is such a fitting quote as I leave this weekend to attend the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) tradeshow in Anaheim, California. The craft industry…the entire scrapbooking phenomenon…is built upon "the risk-takers, the doers and the makers of things". It is entire industry of women and men who said one day, "I have an idea!" and acted on it. Women such as Lisa Bearnson, who started Creating Keepsakes magazine, Melody Ross of Chatterbox (remember the old journaling templates with the purple and yellow packaging?) and Stephanie Rahmatulla who drew some simple stick figures and started Me and My Big Ideas from her dining room table.
Winter CHA is where the manufacturers release their biggest product launches of the year. I’ve gotten quite a few sneak peeks and their creativity is in full swing! Is there anything specific you want me to look for? Specific products…themes…manufacturers? Please leave a comment on the blog (link below) and let me know. We’re going to print out all the blog comments to take with us on the plane to make our list of things to look for.
We have a total of 206 new items this week, including a brand new supplier – Cookbookin’. They have some really cute papers, stickers and brads to scrapbook one of my favorite subjects – food! We have the Be Mine Valentine’s collection from Reminisce and we also have a circus collection from Moxxie (since we went to the circus this past weekend. About halfway through, my 6-year old son Logan turned to me and said "Mommy, this isn’t a circus. It’s just a bunch of people dancing!” He was much happier when the tigers came out.)
Both of these collections have coordinating Bazzill packs. We have a new travel collection from Momenta and lots of travel paper and die cuts from Scrap Your Trip, including four personalized die cuts (two for football, one for winter vacation and one for skiing).
What I’m most proud of is the Scrap Your Trip "Obama" collection. We made papers and die cuts specifically for the Inauguration (along with the ones we made for the Election). To me, this collection epitomizes what small business…being a "risk-taker, a doer and a maker of things"…is all about. It is so gratifying to have an idea and then be able to act on it. No "research and development"…no "focus group testing"…no "vote needed from the Board of Directors". Just an idea and the ability to make it happen. I hope it helps you scrapbook your memories of this great day in American history.
As always, thanks for your business.

I am looking for “true” NASCAR scrapbook items. Paper, embellishments, brads etc. Driver specific too!!
2. Maria Masten&hellip | January 21st, 2009 at 9:41 am
I would be interested in seeing what type of digital scrapbook items they have. I have just gotten started with Creative Memories digital scrapbooking and I love it. The only drawback is they don’t have some of the things I am looking for, specifically Hawaii or tropical digital items.

I would love more International Travel items – especially the UK and western european countries, items relating to group tours, etc.
Also, paper and items for older/teenage kids – girls and boys. And anything new in pet scrapbooking (cats/dogs).
Have fun at the tradeshow!

My friend and I are going to Greece later this year.
I have ordered some fantastic paper and embellishments from you about Greece. They came yesterday and we are delighted. We are
now looking for a scrapbook that would depict
our Greece theme or a travel theme.

We took a cross-country trip on Amtrak, but I’ve been unable to find anything Amtrak-specific. Most train themed ebellishments either feature steam engines or commuter trains. Would love it if you could find something!

I would love to see a wider variety of cheerleading items. Especially ones that don’t involve pom-poms. Most competitive teams do not use pom-poms or mouthpieces. I know schools do, but not the competive teams.

Julie, have fun at CHA!!! I’ve been seeing a bunch of sneak peeks and it’s all sooooo pretty! I’m loving the Maya Road stuff (chipboard and sheers) and the new Prima line (papers and rustic flowers). The creative cafe line is neat but my lss sells pieces so pricey, not sure about them and not much into owls. Jenni Bowlin’s designs are really cute! I’m sure you will have more than enough booths to make your buying choices hard! Again, have fun, take pics and can’t wait to see what you bring back!

Hi Julie,
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to take our requests with you. Hope you have a successful trip! I enjoy making the mini acrylic themed albums that Go West Studios used to sell (they don’t have these any longer – only the larger ones on their Ebay store). They don’t take long to make and are wonderful gifts for friends. I think they were 3×3″ with rings to add ribbons. The different shaped albums (acrylic or chipboard) are unique and make special gifts too.

I would love the new Paper House Productions Glitter Papers – London, Paris, Mexico and Rome – as well as the Iguazu Falls paper and the Argentina, Mexico 2 and Paris 2 Cardstock stickers. Paper House Productions wrote me that it would probably be you who would most likely carry their new items. I hope so!

Hi Julie,
I hope you have a wonderful time there. I have been looking for some Africa, Asia and Australia related items but there aren’t that many around. Most Africa items concentrate on safaris but there’s so much more there…

First of all I love your website! I just started scrapbooking less than a year ago. I still have a lot to learn but what I have done thus far has been great.
First request a bride and groom die cut or figures that are skeletons. My niece was married in December 08 and their cake topper were bride skeleton with a veil and a groom with a top hat and bow tie. Cake was white with pastel poka dots. Cup cake tower fed the rest of the crowd – different I know.
Second request would be more dance paper ( some that have borders on the edges or double sided. Dance die cut borders – tap; hip hop; lyrical;jazz; ballet.

Thanks!

Hi Julie!
I hope you have an excellent time in Anaheim – I am sure this is going to be a wonderful event. I have a list of things I am looking for… it’s a bit of a long list so I apologize but I am sure that others would also purchase these things… Paper, embellishments, or die cuts would be great!
Volunteerism, walking for causes, fashion show, Philadelphia, Donner Lake/Truckee (CA), Cabin, Republican Party, Sunday School, Girl Scouts, Debate Team, Fencing (the sport), Relay for Life/American Cancer Society, sorority life/house, Alpha Xi Delta, National Panhellenic Council, sisters/best friends, Alumni, Bunco, Sacramento (CA), Wilmington (NC), Reno (NV), Monterey (CA), river rafting.
Also, I know you are located in Orlando… I went to college at Stetson University and would love to find related paper. There is a scrapbook store in Orange City, FL that carries Stetson Univ. scrapbook paper but the store doesn’t have a website. Is there anyway you could find Stetson or Deland, FL related paper? I will pay whatever it takes.
Thank you all so very, very much for all you do. Your customer service is out of this world and your products are by far the best in the market.

Thanks again

You have school items and graduation items, but I would like to see college products as well. I know that some of the large schools do have papers and embellishments out, but they are hard to find. In particular, I am looking for University of Tennessee products.

I love your website and your product. I have ordered from you a few times however I am from Canada and I find the shipping very expensive. Sometimes I want to order a few things and when I complete my order the shipping is more then my order. Is there sometihing I am doing wrong or is this just the way it is.
Have fun at the Craft Fair.

I have been unable to find anything judo related. I see a lot of karate, but the sports are quite different. My 3 boys and I all take classes together and my husband is a coach so I have lots of pictures that I would love to use to have one album just for judo. I hope you can locate some! I hope you have a wonderful time in Anaheim. I think it’s wonderful that you have turned a dream into a reality and you get to spend your days doing something you truly love! Keep up the good work.

I would love to see wizarding or magic type scrapbook items. I have had a very hard time finding these items and with a budding magician in the family, its been very frustrating.
Have fun on the trip. Hope you can find some stuff, particularly wizard related

I love your website. I think your die cuts are wonderful.
I’m looking for products; paper, stickers, etc., that I can use for photos I have from a Drive-In Theater. I have movie related items but I was hoping to find something more specific to the Drive-in.
I also have some great photos from Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York and would love products that I could use for that. Also anything specific to Six Flags Amusement Park and products I can use for photos from Plymouth Plantations and my favorite stop Dunkin Donuts. Have a great time at the tradeshow!

I second the cheerleading items for competitive cheerleading. Also, I sent an email about a week ago suggesting several items for Star Trek, DC Superheroes (especially Green Lantern) and more college stuff for specific universities such as Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, etc.
38. Pam Johnson&hellip | January 21st, 2009 at 1:25 pm
1st, the Obama stuff is terrific! I made a page on election day using your papers and included letters from my 89-year-old father, who had worked hard through the civil rights struggle in the 50s and 60s, on what the day meant to him… and what it should mean to his future generations. He’s already requested that I do something similar for the inauguration since he “has more to say!” So thanks!
Also we are going to Egypt in the spring and will be doing a Nile River cruise. I’ve grabbed a number of things from you already but I am always looking for paper that is less of a picture by itself– more of a border or a top-or-bottom-or-side-oriented design so it isn’t all covered up by my pictures.
Thanks for all you do!

Julie,
It has been awhile since I have shopped at your website. My craft room was packed and in storage while we did some remodeling, but I am back in action and need Archery, archery and archery.
My son is a fierce archery competitor, and his twin sister and parents all compete as well. Bows, arrows, target paper are just a few things I would love to have for scrapbooking all the pictures I have taken the last couple of years at the many tournaments we have participated in.
Many thanks now for anything you may find. Have a great trip!

Julie, I doubt if this is something you can find at CHA, but I also have searched forever trying to get college papers, but for Louisiana Tech University. Now that you have become so creative with paper design is there a way we can send you college info, maybe a url to our school site so you can see logo, mascot etc and maybe make papers for requested schools? I have 3 of us, in 2 generations, who went to La Tech, but since we all live in Seattle my search has been expensive. Not only called university last year but googled and called every scrapbook store in La. Got one diecut (that I can do on a revolution, just the name) and that it is……….

Julie,
Have a wonderful trip. I was just in LA/Hollywood at the EMMYs and will be scrapbooking that soon. I would love to see something related to movie/tv stars, hollywood etc. Also, I have such a hard time finding papers or such for walk-a-thons. We do one or two a year and never see much out there for the many causes that we support.
Thanks and love your site!

Hi Julie,
I would love to have diecuts, papers, stickers anything realted to US Army Aviation. My husband is a pilot serving his 4th tour in Iraq. Specifically the C23 Sherpa, C12 Airplane King Air, UC35 Jet or Cobra Helicopter. Also anything related to sledding! We have a blast doing that as a family! We are planning a Disney trip this April and will also make a stop at Cirque De Soleil so anything related to that would be fantastic!
Kindest Regards,

I have 5 children adopted from Guatemala – so I would love to see the following:
1) More Guatemala items
2) More adoption-themed items… not just for babies or when they are first adopted, but perhaps some for older children?! Three of our kids came home much older and all them them are growing up so it would be nice to have things that address adopted children as they grow
3) More “latin” or Spanish colored / themed / style papers and embellishments. There is a lot out there that is more mexican, but other latin styles exists and there are THOUSANDS of adopted children from Guatemala! Word travels FAST if there are items available to scrapbook about Guatemala.
4) myself and hundreds (or thousands) of people a year do mission work in Guatemala. Could be a great idea to market ‘mission’ or ‘giving back’ type products for these folks!
Also – I have twins that are NOT both of the same sex… more stuff for boy/girl twins that are NOT babies
47. Michelle Hanavan&hellip | January 21st, 2009 at 5:01 pm

How about some paper/stickers regarding memories of a loved one? My Mom died Christmas Eve day and I want to do a small (8×8) book with some memories. Don’t really know what I’m looking for but already have the book set you sell. Keep up the good work — I’m almost done with our Alaska trip from last June (ended up using two Alaska albums!) and will soon start on our fall trip. Oh yeah, some general college stuff and small airplanes (Cessna 172 and such) for my son who is an aviation major. Have a wonderful time in sunny, warm CA – it’s 12 degrees here in NW Ohio!

Die cuts, papers, brads, and stickers of personal interest to me is anything pertaining to Science (science fair; outer space; NASA; etc.), Water Rockets (made from two 2-liter soda bottles), and Boy Scouting.

I also have seen the high school stickers too. I’ve searched Michaels and Joanns with no luck. Maybe you could ask the company because I’ve even gone online to search and have come up empty handed.
Thank you in advance,

Well, some of mine are probably easy enough to find but the last items I’m guessing don’t exist. If they do and you find them I’ll be thrilled! Here goes:
1. Scotland stuff
2. Road Bike stuff (not mountain bike)
3. Puppy & Dog stuff
4. Timbersports (aka Logging Sports). My husband was on the logging sports team in college and I can’t find anything to use to dress up the pages from all the years worth of pictures. Stuff like “Crosscut saws”, “Axes”, “Pole Climbing” and the like.
Have fun & I can’t wait to see all the exiting things you bring back to share with us!

Hi Julie! I hope you have an exciting trip to CA!
I hate to sound like an old record, but I have left messages before regarding more Civil War items. I just thought they never got through to you since there were no answers back. Believe me that in my search, online and “on land”, you have the most extensive Civil War collection. But there is SO MUCH MORE that could be done…die cuts of brogans (shoes), CW A-frame tents, CW canteens, buckets, hoop skirts, shawls, knitting needles & yarn, spinning wheels, baskets, hardtack (hard, thick cracker), haversack (long-handled, over-the-shoulder type of knapsack the CW soldiers kept their personal effcts in), candle box lantern, flags & battle-related items, CW drum… the list could just go on and on forever. Just keep in mind, Gettysburg stuff is okay, but Gettysburg was not the only battle during the CW, so papers that ALL say “Gettysburg” aren’t always helpful. Also, there are two sides – “the blue and the grey.” I am sure there are Yankee scrapbookers as well as Confederate scrapbookers! I hope you can find some new material for this topic. I scrap A TON OF PHOTOS for CW and I am getting hard pressed to make pages look interesting instead of the “same old same old.” If this topic can be built up, you can count on me for spreading the word among other reenactors! I already talk up your site, but would love to pass along this specialty!
Love you and SYT! You are jut amazing!

Hi Julie……….please look for Liquid Scrap Dots, a new product by Helmar. They are from Australia and I cannot find these anywhere in the US. This is adhesive in a tube that can be squeezed out to made any size adhesive dot to raise your embellishments above the surface they are attached to (sort of like the foam squares, but much, much better). Thanks…….Have a nice trip.

Hi Julie – Well, I got through all 58 comments above and want to second a few of them and add a couple of my own requests. I am doing Australia/New Zealand, and have quite a bit of Australia, but am lacking anything from New Zealand – kiwis, natural springs, sheep, etc. I second the request for Iguazu Falls and Argentina plus Relay for Life, but would also like to see some on the Amazon, more on Gallapagos, maybe including some of the animals, Ecuador and volcanoes, etc. Would like a wonderful full page picture of a Class C motorhome, preferably one that isn’t too streamlined, and I agree with the need for more scrapbooking items, papers, etc. I will be doing a whole book on my scrapbooking including several 4-day retreats, crops with friends, CM parties, etc. It will be an album of its own and Ineed more product! Have a great time in Anaheim – it got cooler here in N. Calif today with some rain – I don’tknow what it is doing in Anaheim. Keep up the good work – I love your site as is evidenced by the fact I order so doggoned much from you! Thanks for all you do.

Julie,
Wishing you safe travels. I am in Orange County, California and not to far from Anaheim. You should have nice weather. It is suppose to be cool and overcast, which is a very nice change from our hot summer weather we have recently had.
My request may be simple. I am looking for Dry Bond adhesive sheets. I love this stuff for Cricut cut letters. The only place I can find it is on Amazon.com. It is by far the best stuff to lay letters on, rub, and it attaches so well to the letters. It is made by a company called Alan, or Alin. I know so many people who use this in scrapbooking, and if you carried it, it would make it so nice for all of us that order through you so often.
Travel Safe, and have a wonderful time!
Thank you,
Terri

More BASEBALL-pitcher related items-my son has played baseball for many many years-our life has been centered around a ball field-and dugouts. Now he is off playing baseball in college, so also any college related stuff would be great-also target shooting stuff. Love your website.
Can’t wait to see all the new items! thank you

I’m interested in a new Calendar Collection line from SRM Stickers which has stickers for the months of the year, seasons and holidays. I saw them on another website and love them especially the months of the year stickers.

What about pet adoption information? Hopefully this weekend will be adopting our second dog from a rescue group. Oh, and I’ve seen stuff that says “Our new Puppy” but not “our new DOG” both of our adoptees are adult dogs.
Thanks and have fun out here in my neck of the woods.

Julie_ I would really like to see more sports items!
Since I began scrapbooking I have had kids involved in soccer, football, track, softball, volleyball and basketball. They have traveled, to China, Japan, Italy and places in the US. – New York City, Williansburg and Orlando among others so I’m always looking for new items. Keep up the search.

Hi Julie,
I would love to see you purchase tree die cuts. We have a cabin and we go four wheelin so we are in the woods all of the time.
My son is taking me to a Trace Adkins concert on Valentine’s day. Could you find any paper or die cuts to go with concerts?
