Scrap Your Trip Surprise Goody Basket Drawing Ends Today
Entry Filed under: New Items Added
Hello from Copper Mountain, Colorado! It is snowing again today. It has snowed everyday since we arrived…7" in total. Several times it has been snowing so hard that you can’t see the mountains out the window! The elevation here is 9600 feet and let me tell you, it’s kicking me in the butt! I can barely breathe. My son, Logan, got sick the first day we were here too, so we ended up postponing our ski lessons.
Yesterday’s lessons went great for my daughter Lauren, okay for Logan and not so good for me. Lauren was doing so well that she bumped up two levels and went up the lift twice. I saw her come down the second time and I was so proud of her! Since Logan is younger, he doesn’t have as much control of his fine motor skills, but his instructor said he should make it to the lift today.
Me? That’s a whole different story. As we were getting ready to go to the lift yesterday, my instructor came over and said she was really worried about my breathing and that I shouldn’t go to a higher elevation. I’m going to try again today, but I have to tell you, on a scale of 1 to 10, my excitement level is about 1. I don’t like to be cold and I also don’t like to do things I’m not good at, so skiing is not exactly at the top of my list.
But, I’m also not a quitter, so I’m going to give it another whirl today.
I don’t think I’ll be Olympic material after one day, but hopefully I can do as well as my 9 year old!
Want a chance to win a surprise goody basket filled with over $200 worth of scrapbook supplies? Every $75 spent between Wednesday and today (April 3) means you get one chance in the drawing. The winner will be announced next Wednesday.
Hope you have a great weekend. I’m looking forward to coming home to Florida where it’s warm!
As always, thanks for your business!

Congratulations on your Trip! Copper Mountain is a super place to ski! My family loves it up there! Enjoy the snow… we are supposed to get some snow down here in Denver this weekend as well. Haven’t had much of that so far this winter! My high altitute trick for you (living here all my life…) is to drink LOTS of water. That helps the High Altitude sickness that shocks the system!

Julie;
Welcome to Colorado!
Copper Mtn is a spectacular mountain…one of the best in Colorado! As to your altitude problems, I too have some suggestions: plenty of water, with aspirin, NOT Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but aspirin and absolutely NO alcohol. Enjoy your stay in our wonderous state!

Wow, that great for your trip. I love Colorado as I have so many relatives and friends there. But, I do get that high altitude ear popping experience.
thanks!

I love skiing at Copper Mountain it’s the main place we ski at. My brother is a ski patrol man there. Let’s hope no one in your party meets him.
Enjoy your time in our wonderful state of Colorado.

Hi Julie,
No worries! While you are ‘enjoying’ your trip in Colorado your staff is working very hard to get my order ready for shipment! Nice thought isn’t it?
The fair went alright due to your wonderful papers!

Did SYT post the results on the online printing of pictures? I have been curious and I thought maybe I missed it. I don’t know how since I look forward to my weekly emails. This site is the best for finding NEW scrapping products for whatever occasion. I tend to scrap the same sports and bdays over and over so new product is essential for me. Thanks SYT!!!!

We just came home from a ski trip in CO. last weekend with my husbands ski buddies. We were in Keystone and Breckenridge and like you, we all had a hard time with the altitude. I don’t ski and it still took my breath away! I also thought of you and your plane story. We had a stop over in Kansas City on the way home and had to sit there for an hour in the plane waiting for a delayed flight to meet us and take them home to Maryland. Our attendants allowed us off the plane if we wanted and gave free drinks to anyone that wanted one, AND THE USE OF THE BATHROOMS! Slightly different story to yours, and yes it was the same airline. Poor Logan!
Thanks for the wonderful supplies you offer. Nothing compares to your travel section and I always look forward to browsing the emails to see whats new!

You know, I laughed at myself this morning….I was going through my email deleting the junk and the sale emails. I was still half asleep and I saw the “ends today” portion of the email subject and almost deleted it. I stopped and told myself NONONONO that one you read! I just placed an order so I wasn’t worry about the drawing ending today, but I wanted to see how the ski trip was going.
As someone with asthma, I am very glad your instructor was paying such close attention to your breathing. Be careful and have fun.

Scrap your trip is the only site I use for my scrapbooking supplies. But, Julie, you made me nervous about the altitude thing!! I’m heading to Quito, Ecuador at the end of this month and it’s 9350ft! I’m only there for two days, and then I’m off to cruise the Galapagos Islands – thanks for the great papers and die cuts for this scrapbook!!

Hey there,
Loved your explination about skiing. I remember going down the bunny slope and thinking it was a black diamond for sure. When I finally got the hang of it, I was zooming down that bunny slope about 35 times before I fell over exhausted. I love skiing.

My family loves to Ski in Wisconsin each Feb. I do not like the cold or skiing–tried it once in Michigan and once in Colorado. So I spend time scrapbooking. The first years I just took picutres and cropped. Now I preplan pages and sit in the lodge and work, work, work. I am “home base” for the kids to come to when they need something. I wouldn’t miss it!!!!

Your trip sounds wonderful. I love the snow, but not the skiing. Gravity tends to win out.
I’m an avid scrapper. have over 30+ years I’m still working on. Never run out of pic’s.

Hope you have a great trip enjoy the snow. I love your website. You off a GREAT variety. I would love to see more Baton Twirling items they are so hard to find. My daughter has been in this for 10 years so I have lots to scrapbook… Thanks again for such wonderful products.
22. Ali&hellip | April 3rd, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Lots of water should definitely help your altitude sickness. Your body should acclimate after a few days so that you can enjoy skiing. It really is a wonderful sport once you get the hang of it!

Love your personal emails to your customers. I’ve been a customer almost from the beginning and have always appreciated that. I accidentally found your site while looking yet again for travel scrapbooking, (there was hardly anything back then) since I love to travel and scrapbook. I was so thrilled to find your site and have been telling everyone about it ever since, plus I’m a very good customer! My best friend is also a very good customer, since my recommending it to her.
Sounds about like I’d do in the snow in Colorado, especially at my advanced age of 68. We lived there (in Denver) for a year 38 years ago and even then, no skiing for me! Wish we’d had digital cameras back then – beautiful state!

By the way, I know what you mean about altitude! Since my husband is a chain smoker, I was diagnosed with COPD about a year ago, after coughing all of my life (my mom was also a chain smoker). No more smoking in the house. I went to Prescott, AZ for 2 weeks in November and to the Grand Canyon, and other high areas and the altitude really got to me, too! Being from Pensacola, FL, and you being from FL, we’re just not used to that!

Love, love, love your site. My travel albums are full of your great products. Thanks. Take care in the mtns. Even when outside, wrap a scarf around your neck and mouth to avoid inhaling the cold air. This was advice from my MD’s nurse. It helped!!

When I am looking for something unusual that isnt available in my local stores… I always come straight to Scrap Your Trip!
Enjoy cropping the Ski trip!

Thanks for the great letters and all the great products! Re: the altitude and COLD weather- I would go inside, find a nice fire, drink some hot chocolate and curl up with a good book (or scrap some pages)!
31. Lori Andrew&hellip | April 3rd, 2009 at 8:29 pm
Sorry skiing’s not turning out to be “your thing” as I love it but the older I get, the less I enjoy the cold you have to be in to really enjoy it!
Hang in there. I think you’re a trooper even trying it since you don’t like cold.
32. Lynn&hellip | April 4th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I have to say good sport. I went skiing once and would never go again. LOL It was fun the first day my butt had enough, black & blue’s every where.
Our daughter was great. Just couldn’t keep up with them. I guess skiing is something you have to start small and just keep doing. Good luck!
Some people are just made to relax and scrapbook right. I have to say love your store alway find what I need. We love Florida!!! nice and warm.

Welcome to snowy Colorado! This past week is the most Winter we’ve had, although the calendar says it’s officially Spring. Glad you’re enjoying your ski trip. I always look forward to receiving your great products and emails.
34. Nancy&hellip | April 4th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I know exactly what you mean with the skiing.
I’ve from MS and the same thing happened to me with altitude sickness. It didn’t help that we just had 2 days to ski so needless to say I never really got the hang of it and really didn’t want to go skiing again although I do love the mtns. I think the gals with the scrappin’ idea around the fire sounds great!
Your website is the absolute BEST out there – nothing even close. Thanks also for your emails about your life – it’s nice to hear you be so honest, I really appreciate it.
Hang in there and enjoy your trip.
