Scrap Your Trip National Scrapbook Day S*A*L*E
Entry Filed under: New Items Added
Happy May Day!
One of the e-mail newsletters I get is The Archival Advisor Newsletter from the Image Permanence Institute. They are a "university-based, nonprofit research laboratory devoted to scientific research in the preservation of visual and other forms of recorded information". Basically they research how to preserve your photos.
The following information was in their recent newsletter and I thought it was really timely considering tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day and I wanted to share it with you:
May 1st is MayDay
This is the annual day for professional archivists to review the condition of their facilities and collections and also to review their policies and their disaster plans. You can take on this spirit and reflect on the future of your own family history collection. Here are a few things you can do to make sure your stuff lasts.
Important things you can accomplish today:
While there are many things you can do to help preserve your personal memory collections, a few are easy and can be done right now without too much effort!
- Check to see if all your albums are safely on their shelves and all loose photos are safely stored in envelopes or boxes.
- Check your photos on display, and if they have started to fade, consider putting up a new image.
- Make sure that your photos are stored in a cool, dry place.
- Download all the photos you’ve been neglecting on your camera’s memory card.
- Back up the files on your computer – and not just the image files!
If you’re not going to spend tomorrow scrapping, at least back up your photos!

I just received 2 orders from Scrapyourtrip.com and as always the items are better than I expected. I live overseas and sometimes when I order on line items are not always what they seem on the site. That is never the case with Scrap your trip. Thanks Julie for all your had work.

Of course, I had to order scrapbooking stuff on National Scrapbooking Day! Since I found this site right after you started (believe me, I looked and looked for decent travel sites until finding this!) I have been a faithful member. Amazing how far scrapbooking has come, isn’t it? I’ve made scrapbooks for 3 trips, 2 to Europe. First was to Great Britain, all of it and 2nd to Italy Plus 5 other countries. This Time my sister and I are planning a leisurely trip to Ireland, since we’re not getting any younger! The others were tours – wonderful, but exhausting. So of course I ordered a bunch of Irish stickers today (on your sale) to give me the incentive to go! As soon as I get something done with my back, off we’ll go! Can’t wait and thanks for having such neat travel stuff!
