Scrap Your Trip Adds 309 Items + 309 S*A*L*E Items
Entry Filed under: New Items Added
Nine years ago, when I was pregnant with Lauren, we decided to remodel our house. It all started because the a/c unit leaked and ruined our carpet. By the time we were done, we had redone the downstairs floors and totally redone the kitchen and all the bathrooms. We didn’t have a kitchen sink for weeks – we used to put all our dirty dishes in a laundry basket and carry them over to our neighbors and use their dishwasher.
During our remodel, a friend sent us a cartoon that showed the Devil standing at the Gates of Hell. Behind him were two doors. One said "Eternal Damnation" and the other said "Living in Your House While You’re Remodeling". "Pick one," the Devil says. "They’re pretty much the same."
Okay, so it’s not really that bad, but "Working in Your Office While You’re Expanding and Remodeling" has been quite the challenge. We have three suites and added a fourth. However, most of the "build-out" that we decided to do was in our existing space. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m practically "spatially disabled." I just can’t look at something on paper and see how it’s going to work in my mind. I’m more of a "I’ll figure out when it’s all done" kind of a gal. This is driving the building manager and the contractors nuts! Understandably so. But I can’t help it.
At lunch the other day, Lani said "What happened to our plan? It’s falling apart!" Desks don’t fit where we thought they would…something totally worked on paper, but then didn’t work in actuality…doors end up swinging open into the middle of a room (that only happened once) ![]()
Throughout it all, though, all the Scrap Your Trip employees have been wonderful! We have to move stuff out of the way, only to have to move it out of the way again the next day. Everything is in a state of chaos, but they just keep getting your orders out to you with a smile on their face. And as I mentioned before, the contractors have done a fantastic job of keeping the dust contained and cleaning up after themselves.
The last wall comes down today and then the demolition part is done. The last of the new carpet goes into the new suite tomorrow. The contractors should be done with all the drywall work next week and hopefully by then the electricians and the phone guy are done too. I’m ready for this to be over!
I posted a bunch of pictures below, so you can keep up with our progress.
309 new items! I know it’s a lot to look through (309 items plus the Bazzill matches for the SYT Die Cuts), but some really exciting items came in yesterday and we couldn’t keep them to ourselves.
Karen Foster Designs has come out with a stationary line! There are four designs, Ocean Escapade, Mystique (my favorite), Modern Safari and Azure Blooms. There are journal notebooks, notepads, magnetic notepads, sticky notes, note cards, thank you cards, file folders and an eco-friendly, reusable matching tote to hold everything. I’m a total notebook person (have to keep reminding myself to use the ones I already have) and this is a fantastic notebook. The insides of the covers are even decorated! I had to order extra because everyone in the office wanted some. Karen Foster obviously has a new artist, because this is a brand new look for them. I hope to see it carried over into their scrapbook lines.
Other new collections include: "Traveler" from Little Yellow Bicyle; "Old West" from Carolee’s Creations; "Hat’s Off" graduation from The Paper Company; "It’s My Party" from Bo Bunny, destination and sport stickers and papers from Stamping Station; sllimline punches from EK Success; a new Travel Album from Pioneer and "Say What" Journals, Tablets and Word sticker sheets from Little Yellow Bicyle.
The SYT designers were working on the following themes this week: Travel, Beach, Spring, Summer, Disney, Road Trip, Mexico, Thailand, Zoo, Sports, Wedding, Kids and of course, Scrapbooking!
We have two custom papers – Theatre Curtain and Grunge School and two custom die cuts – Pool Sign and Mr. and Mrs.

I feel your pain. My parents started remodeling their house in the mid-80′s. The kitchen was literally in boxes. Almost 30 years later and they still have plywood in their bedroom, no woodwork, no closet doors, an uneven door jam and a squeaky floor. Luckily they finally got a door to the bedroom a couple years ago! Unfortunately my dad is now getting to the age it’s harder for him to finish. Plus he’s not as precise as he used to be which irritates my mom. There’s something to be said for hiring work done… at least you know it’ll be done sometime within the deadline!! Happy Remodeling!

My workplace is being added on to and remodeled. I’ve got jackhammers around the corner and a hot tar machine underneath my window. People are tucked away in corners everywhere–if you can find them! And I’m trying to concentrate on wrapping up the fiscal year. But it’s 10 months down, only 5 to go! Wonderful job on the custom papers! I’ve done 2 pages already (when I should have been cleaning house)!

Been there, done that, (only with an expanding, open-for-business restaurant.) Congratulations for your poise, good humor, and ability to keep it all in perspective! It will be so worth it when it’s completed.
And thanks to all your faithful employees who have been committed to you, the process and to us! We sincerely appreciate it.

I have ordered from you twice now and am very happy with everything I have bought. I didn’t know you have a remodel going on and yet I was amazed at how quickly my last order arrived. Keep up the good job, you all seem to work as a great team. I am drawn to your site because of all the personal info you put on it. I would much rather order from someone that I feel is almost like family.

Julie,
As always your team impresses and amazes. I cannot wait to drop back by for a tour of the expanded digs. I know what it was like for us just in the re-arranging stages and it can be pure chaos. I was surprised that your whole team can operate from such a small coffee pot though – surely there is a fridge nearby full of Red Bull
Keep the great products and fantastic news flowing. We always love to see it!

I can commiserate. That’s how my house looked for two years while my husband re-did things. It’s worth it…probably.
Thanks again for all the extra effort with my convoluted order. Can’t wait to get the paper and start those wedding folders. Yeah! Right!
