Scrap Your Trip Adds 296 Items + 296 S*A*L*E Items
I guess it’s because it was just my birthday, but I’ve really been thinking about my age lately. I know I don’t look my age…don’t act my age…and I certainly don’t feel my age! But, I am getting older and wiser and that’s just a fact. But I NEVER want to look my age, act my age or feel my age and that means I have to take some action. Right before I went to Boston, I went for the follow-up appointment with the lung specialist. Not allergic to the cat – big surprise there! However, something else happened there that had an effect on me. As I was checking out, there was a very nicely dressed elderly woman with two forearm crutches – you know – the kind with the cuff thing that goes around your arm. Anyway, she was complaining to the receptionist about the parking. She couldn’t find a parking spot and had to park and walk all the way around the building to get to the handicapped ramp because she couldn’t step up the curb. On my way to my car, I passed her on the sidewalk and said that "I overheard you inside saying you were having trouble with the sidewalk. Do you need some help?" She said, "No, I’m fine. I just have trouble walking and cannot walk up or down the curbs." She made a little more small talk and as I turned to walk away, she looked at me with a depth of sadness I have rarely seen and said "Don’t get old." Then this past Saturday, we all went on a pontoon boat ride on Lake Dora, in Mt. Dora. There were three others that were going on the trip with us. I sat with my son Logan and watched two women in their 50′s struggle…and I mean struggle…to step down into the boat from the dock. Not even up, but down! Well, that was it for me. On Monday, I joined the Y and hired a personal trainer. Yesterday I was up at 4:38 am to head to the gym and I lifted a total of 4,820 pounds. Up at 5:00 am again this morning for 2 miles on the treadmill. I remember an old Oil of Olay commercial from when I was younger that said "Age old gracefully? Fight it every step of the way!" I didn’t understand it then. I thought you should just be accepting. But at 42? Heck with that! I’m going to bust my butt in the gym and I plan on doing a little number reversal and having the body of a 24-year old instead of a 42-year old when I’m done! I’ll keep you posted with stats along my journey…anyone want to join me? There are 296 yummy new items to look at this week.
