I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We decided to do things a little different this year and went to the Peabody Hotel for a Thanksgiving Dinner buffet. I am used to cooking for 10-15 people, and I have to tell you, it was really nice to not have to worry about it this year. The buffet was fantastic and the kids said it was the best Thanksgiving ever. Of course that may have had something to do with the fact that I told them they could try as many desserts as they wanted!

Did you brave the crowds this morning? No need to leave the house in order to save at Scrap Your Trip today! Our Black Friday special is good until 11:59 pm Eastern tonight. $25 off any order of $99 or more. Just enter coupon code SAVE25 at checkout.
And remember, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we can always make a custom title or paper just for you! Click here to see all our custom options:

Gratitude. The more time I spend in this place, the happier I am. I am grateful for so many things this Thanksgiving…my children, my parents, my friends, my customers, my employees, my company, my health, my new condo and my new life…the list of big things to be grateful for goes on and on. But what about the little things? (Thanks to the Organized Parent for this idea!) The following are some of mine:
1. My iPhone – how did I EVER live without it?!?
2. Glittery scrapbook paper
3. The smell of cinnamon
4. Starbucks Non-Fat Chai Latte
5. Facebook
6. Sunflowers
7. Cool notebooks
8. Cheese Fries (I am noticing a food theme here!)
9. Hair color
10. Sunshine
It was fun to think up this list. What are some of yours? Let us know on the blog!
Since glittery scrapbook paper is my favorite, I just love this week’s Christmas line from Best Creation. They have the best glittery paper on the market. Not only are all their papers gorgeous, but the glitter doesn’t come off. I may love glittery scrapbook paper, but I don’t like being covered in glitter!
The Christmas line from Best Creations is just one of the new lines we have in the 160 brand-new items we have to share with you this week. We also have "Moravia" from SEI, "1-2-3 Celebrate Me" from Creative Imaginations, holiday Dazzle cardmaking stickers from Hot Off the Press and lots of new dimensional sticker designs from EK Success.
The SYT designers were also working on the following themes this week: Africa, Atlantic City, Black Friday Shopping, BMX, Chicago, Christmas, Dance, Day of the Dead, Fall, Fantasy Football, Garage Sale, Greece, Israel, Japan, Lighthouse, Marathon, Music, New York, Scotland, Sports, Texas, Thanksgiving, Theater, Tibet, Travel, Twirl, Washington DC, Winter and Zoo
We have two custom papers – Custom Cartoon Font and Custom Movie Theater Sign and two custom die cuts – a Custom Turkey and Custom Drama Masks.

The Salvation Army bell ringers have arrived! There is just something about the sound of that bell ringing that just puts me in a happy holiday mood. The sound is synonymous with the holidays and it always puts me directly into a place of gratitude. Gratitude for the roof over my head, the clothes on my back and the food on my table. I made a commitment this year to put a dollar in the kettle every time I see a bell ringer. A dollar is quite a bargain for how good it makes me feel to know I am helping to make a difference, no matter how tiny it is.
Hundreds of the turkeys from our 6th Annual Turkey Sale are gone for good, but there are still plenty of good deals left – 40% off all the items we need to clear out of the warehouse.

This past Sunday I took the kids to the Festival of Trees. It’s a charity event put on by the Orlando Museum of Art and we’ve been going every year for as long as I can remember. They auction off professionally decorated trees and gingerbread houses, but they show them off to the public beforehand.
Well, it got my kids so excited about Christmas that we “abandoned the schedule” that Lauren had made of all the things we were doing that day to get started on our Christmas decorations.
Since we are starting fresh this year, I told the kids that we could decorate the tree any way they wanted. Colored lights…ornaments that don’t match…whatever we wanted.
Well, they had a blast picking out the most colorful ornaments they could find. Pink, green, purple, turquoise, orange…they just went nuts!
We already started decorating the condo. I let them each string lights on a silk tree (thankfully I moved into a fully furnished condo). They were so excited to do it themselves. I started off trying to help Logan. The adult me wanted the lights to be straight…evenly spaced, etc. But the child me remembered how badly you want to do things yourself when you are a kid, so I decided I’d rather that they were happy than have evenly spaced lights.
We’re going to buy our tree and put it up this weekend. Now, if you’ve been reading my e-mails for awhile, you know what a big deal this is for me. Last year…I am embarrassed to say…we put our tree up on Christmas Eve. Not this year! I am determined to be a really good single mom and for me, that means Christmas comes around a lot earlier this year.
It will be a small tree, maybe 5 feet or so, otherwise the kids won’t be able to reach the top and all the ornaments will end up bunched up together on the bottom. But even if that happens, it will be just fine. They will have decorated it themselves and that’s all that really matters.
How about you? When does your tree go up? Are you a day after Halloween person? A day after Thanksgiving? Or are there any other Christmas Eve stragglers out there? Let us know on the blog!
Today is the beginning of our 6th annual “Turkey Sale”. What’s a turkey sale, you ask? Well, I wish everything we decided to buy was a winner, but some of them are turkeys. And there is no room for turkeys in the Scrap Your Trip warehouse. (Literally, there is no room!) So, there are almost 1300 “turkeys” marked down to 40% off.
Now lots of these items have 25 or less in stock. Typically, we sell out of almost half of the items on the first day of the sale. Don’t put them in your cart for later or on your wishlist or registry. Chances are they will be gone by the time you get back. We will be removing things from the website as fast as we can, so if an item was in your cart, but then it’s not…it’s because someone else bought the last one.
Ready…set…go! Click here to get started:

We are all one.
I’ve often heard this saying and I never really understood it. We are all one? WAY too out there and "new age-y" for me.
But now I get it. We are all one…not in the "we are really just one person" sort of way, but in the "basically we are all the same person" sort of way.
My new therapist, (Tony got custody of our marriage therapist in the separation) did a workshop this weekend that I attended. She specializes in addiction, so there were a lot of people there with way more demons than me. (She was recommended to me. I don’t have any addictions. Well, maybe chocolate.)
It was an extremely diverse group of people. Men and women. Grandmothers and teenagers. Black and white. Gay and straight. Lots of tattoos and piercings and even some dredlocks. To be honest, when I got there, I thought a couple of people were kind of scary.
But through the course of the weekend, here’s what I learned.
We are all wounded in some way. We all have anger and sadness. We are all afraid and blame others, but mostly ourselves. We all just want to be enough and for someone to love us for just being us.
So, by the end of the weekend, I didn’t notice the wrinkles or the tattoos or even the nose rings anymore. All I saw was another human being…just like me, who has things they are doing their best to deal with. And at the end of the day, all we want is another human being to really see us and love us.
I realize this is already getting long, but I want to share a really powerful thing that happened to me at the workshop. At the end of Saturday night, the instructors told us to get as many hugs as we needed before we left. I got hugs from several people, but then one from this young man I’ll call "Charlie". It was a really strong hug and it had a big effect on me.
The next morning everyone was talking about what had come up for them the night before. I raised my hand and said I had been overwhelmed with sadness when "Charlie" hugged me. I didn’t know when somebody was going to hug me like that again. Well, "Charlie" came over and sat next to me and put his arm around me. I was holding onto a pillow and I put my head on his shoulder and cried. And cried. And cried.
After a few minutes, I started to get uncomfortable, thinking of what he and everyone else must be thinking of me. But, I decided it felt good to have a shoulder to cry on and I didn’t care. So, I snuggled into him a little more and stayed like that until everyone was done talking.
Well, here is the amazing part. The next day when everyone was talking about what they got out of the weekend, "Charlie" said that his whole life everyone had supported him and he had never had the chance to be the support for someone else before. He looked at me and said "Thank you for letting me support you yesterday. It really meant a lot to me.”
I immediately broke into tears (lots of tears this weekend) and said, "You gave me the most incredible gift yesterday and now you are telling me I gave YOU one?"
We tend to do so much more for others than we ever do for ourselves. It’s easier for us to give than receive. But we are robbing others of the joy of giving to us. So, let someone do something nice for you. You never know the impact it may have on them.
Okay. Enough of that. Bring on the scrapbook supplies!

One of the things I love about scrapbooking is all the creative people I have been lucky enough to meet. I am so often in awe of all the ideas people come up with. I am also lucky to have creative employees (imagine that – creative employees working at a scrapbooking company)!
Many of you know Tiffany, our lead designer. Every week, she comes up with some of the COOLEST, most creative die cut designs. Here are a few examples:
Turkey Page Corner Laser Die Cut
Scarecrow Laser Die Cut
Middle School Border Laser Die Cut
Alaska Bracket Laser Die Cut
For Halloween, Tiffany made the cutest little treat bags for everyone in the office.

Isn’t this awesome? You can’t see the candy because I ate it. Yum…Milk Duds…:-)
Still need Halloween supplies? All our Halloween products are marked down 25% off through 11:59 pm Eastern tonight. Click here to see them all:

What kind of memory preserving Mom would I be if didn’t share cute pictures of my kids on Halloween?
We went trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood of Celebration. It was an absolute zoo! There were so many people you could barely walk on the sidewalk. And, of course, we lost the kids in the crowd for about 5 minutes.

Made for an interesting Halloween night! I thought they were responsible enough to not get too far ahead of us, but excitement won out over listening to Mom. I have been trying to give them a lot more freedom and responsibility since we moved, but apparently they are not quite ready for that much.
After we’d all had enough, it was time to go back and go through the loot. I think the kids have more fun sorting and trading the candy than they do actually getting it.

After a few minutes of the trading had been going on, I looked over at Logan’s pile. He is most definitely my son!

So here’s what I want to know…what strand of DNA does the organizing gene live on? Isn’t it funny how our kids pick up some of the quirks of our personality? What other weird things have I passed on to my kids that I don’t even know about yet?
Have Halloween pictures you want to scrap? All our Halloween products are on sale until Friday, 11/6 at 25 % off. Click here to see them all:

We also have 162 new items this week, including "Fall" from K&Company; "Pack Your Bags" from Kaiser Craft; "Autumn" and Canning / Gift Jar labels from Karen Foster; "Christmas Time" from Reminisce and more "Name of the Game" from Scrappin’ Sports & More.
The SYT designers were also working on the following themes this week: Baseball, Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, Beach, Birthday, Boxing, Camping, Cooking, Drama, Faith, Fall, Family, Farming, Food, Football, Games, General Travel, Great Outdoors, Greece, Japan, Kids, Massachusetts, Music, New Zealand, Ping Pong, Road Trip, School, Scrapbooking, Southwest, Texas, Thanksgiving, Volleyball, Wales and Zoo
