Scrap Your Trip SYT Paper S*A*L*E Ends Tonight

Did you know that today is National Fun at Work Day?   I am the luckiest woman in the world, because almost every day is Fun at Work Day for me!

I brought Lani (my Operations Manager, right-hand woman and all-around best friend), Tiffany (Lead Designer and scrapbooker extraordinaire) and Mey (Order Processor and first time out of Florida traveler) to Anaheim with me for the CHA Show.  We always have SO much fun when we go on these trips!   We usually get lost pretty quickly (even with the travel GPS) and then it just quickly turns into a giggle-fest.

Seriously, though, we work hard while we are at the show, looking at new scrapbook supplies – hour after hour – day after day.  It’s really hard work!  But TONS of fun. :-)

We’ve been pouring over catalogs since we got home, trying to decide which are the best collections to bring to you.  Wish we could buy them all, but I’d have to double the size of the warehouse again!  Brand Spankin’ New stuff should start arriving within a few weeks, so stay tuned.

One of the other fun things we got to do in Anaheim was meet one of our very best customers, Nancy.  Unlike your local scrapbook store, I rarely get to meet any of you face-to-face, and it is always a treat.  Thanks again for driving to have dinner with us Nancy!  We just loved hearing about all your travel adventures!

Looking for scrapbook paper for YOUR travel adventures?  Chances are we have it on sale!  Today is the last day of the 20% off sale on Scrap Your Trip branded paper.  There are 1223 papers to choose from.  They are all on one page in case you want to look at them that way instead of by theme, but please be patient while the page loads.  Click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/sytp.html

And remember, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we can always make a custom title or paper just for you!  Click here to see all our custom options:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/custom.html.   See you on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ScrapYourTrip

Scrap Your Trip Adds 27 Items + 1223 SYT Paper S*A*L*E

I always say that scrapbookers are some of the most generous people in the world.  You showed me that again with your help in supporting us to make a donation to the American Red Cross for Haiti.  Thanks to you, we will be making a donation of $4041.00!  It’s not the millions of dollars that big corporations are raising, but it will make a difference to those that receive it and for that I thank you.
I had an absolute blast being on TheRoomLive.com Monday night!  If you didn’t get a chance to see it and you’d like to hear all about how Scrap Your Trip got started, click here to see the replay:  http://www.theroomlive.com/_/The_Room_Live___Video_On_Demand.html

I am the very last video in the middle “Talk” column.  I let it "buffer" for awhile so it would play without stopping.

And to all of you who were saying such wonderful things about Scrap Your Trip in the chat room during the show…THANK YOU!!!  My kids stayed up to watch the whole thing and Lauren was reading all the comments in the chat room.  She told me on the phone last night “It’s so great to be your daughter!”  That’s funny…I think it’s so great to be her Mom. :-)

We are headed back to Orlando from the CHA show this morning with lots of catalogs and TONS of great new products to bring to you.  Every show seems to have an overriding “theme” and this show was all about butterflies and bling.  Yay!  Bling!  There is no such thing as “too sparkly” as far as I am concerned!

We looked for all the things you requested.  Some we found…some we didn’t.  If we can’t find it, we will work on making it for you, either as a die cut or as a paper.  Thanks for taking the time to let us know what you are looking for.

We have just a few new products for Valentine’s Day this week.  The "Sweet Love" line from Little Yellow Bicycle and some adorable die cuts from the SYT designers. Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/1272010.html    We are also having a 20% off sale on Scrap Your Trip branded paper through Friday, January 29th.  There are 1223 papers to choose from.  I put them all on one page in case you want to look at them that way instead of by theme, but please be patient while the page loads.  Click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/sytp.html

Scrap Your Trip Donates 10% of Sales (Ends Tonight) to American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund

We’re off to Anaheim!  It’s time for the Craft & Hobby Association Tradeshow!  Over 228,000 square feet of fun stuff to look at from over 625 exhibitors!

I know I say the exact same thing every year when we get ready to head out there, but we are all just SO excited about going to see all the latest and greatest things the creative geniuses in our industry have come up with.

XXL to carry catalogs?  Check!  Comfortable shoes?  Check!  Pretty notebook to take lots of notes about awesome new products?  Check!  GPS so that I can drive to Portillo’s for chocolate cake?  Check!  (I get almost as excited about the chocolate cake as I do the scrapbooking products.  Almost!  If you’ve ever had it – you know what I mean!) :-)

So, what do you want us to look for?  Specific manufactures?  Specific collections?  Something in particular you’ve been trying to find?  Let us know and we’ll keep our eyes peeled for you!  Please leave your suggestions and requests as comments below on the blog instead of mailing to Customer Care.  That way we will be able to print them out and have them all in one place.  Thanks!

Thank you for helping us to support the American Red Cross and the Haiti Relief and Development Fund.  We’ve been donating 10% of our sales since Wednesday to the American Red Cross and we will donate 10% of today’s sales as well.

We have set up an item HAITI on Scrap Your Trip.  It has a cost of $10.  For every $10 you “spend” on this item, we will match the amount and send a double donation to the American Red Cross.  Click here to donate:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/haiti.html

If you would like to donate directly to the American Red Cross instead of through Scrap Your Trip, please text HAITI to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Again, thank you so much for helping Scrap Your Trip support the American Red Cross.  I will sleep better tonight knowing we did a tiny bit of good in the world today.   See you on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ScrapYourTrip

Scrap Your Trip Donates 10% of Sales to American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund

There are lots of great things that come from owning your own company.  I don’t get in trouble for being late to work in the morning…If I want to take a long lunch to run a few personal errands I can…and I get to choose the people I work with every day.  But the best part of owning a company?  The ability to make a bigger difference in the world through my company than I would ever be able to make as just me.

I think many of you feel as I do about the tragedy in Haiti.  “I want to help!  What can I do?  Where do I donate?  Oh, I meant to do that yesterday.”

Well, I, Julie Swatek, want to help.  So here is what I am going to do.  Scrap Your Trip will be donating 10% of sales from Wednesday 1/20 through Friday, 1/22 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.

That is 10% of SALES, not profits.

We have also set up an item HAITI on Scrap Your Trip.

I am not adding any new products or having any additional sales this week.  I am choosing to spend that money helping the people of Haiti instead.  I think it’s a good choice. :-)

I consider it one of my purposes in life to make the world a better place, one person at a time.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do that.   See you on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ScrapYourTrip

Scrap Your Trip Adds 156 Items + Creative Cafe Kit

"What are your dreams?"  That question seems to be popping up everywhere for me.

Yesterday, someone shared with me the idea of a "dream card" and I wanted to share it with you.   Write down one dream in each of these four areas:
  1. Relationships
  2. Health
  3. Financial
  4. Living a life of your own design
Put these dreams on a card the size of a business card, laminate it and carry it with you everywhere.   The person who showed me his had pictures of himself at his ideal weight (which is isn’t currently at).  He said every time he orders off the menu in a restaurant, he takes the card out and holds it in his hand while he is deciding what to order.  Think that helps him make healthy food choices?     And how about if one of your dreams is to keep current with the little day-to-day things that happen in a scrapbook?  Our kit from Creative Cafe is just the size to help you do that.  It’s 6 x 8 and comes with calendar pages and tabs, so that you can use it for "a year in the life" book.   Here are a couple examples of pages from Danelle Johnson (this book is her baby).  :-)              Click here to see the kit, along with all our other new items for the week  www.scrapyourtrip.com/1132010.html    We also have 156 overstock items are 25% off – click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/1132010sale.html

Scrap Your Trip Adds 156 Items + 156 S*A*L*E Items

We are excited to bring you the colorful Creative Café kits from my friend Danelle Johnson, who designs for Creative Imaginations.  As a mother of two as well, she shared with me how simple it was to capture her girls’ special moments in a 6 x 8 1/2 album. Not all of us have the time or creativity to do full blown albums filled with 12x 12 pages and this just seemed like a easy and  fun way for us busy moms to capture the silliness and pure innocence of our children. So often we look back on events from the passing years and wish we had documented them. This kit helps preserve those special moments in a uniquely yours album. Whether it is a wedding, recital, birthday or any other occasion, these color coordinated ribbons, tags and more provide a neutral palette for your imagination.

The kit includes a swatch book filled with 28 pages of impress-ons words, 6 fabric ribbons in orange, lime, red, pink, white and sky blue and one brown flower ribbon border. 24 tags in 4 different sizes are also included in the fun pastel colors as well as 3 large journaling tags. The album is a festive green and includes 36 pages and 12 dividers which help map out each month of the year or your special events. The kit also includes 6 12 x 12 sheets of lined paper in the same colors as the ribbons and tags, one transparency of common everyday words in various fonts and colors, 3 calendar double sided 12 x 12 sheets, 3 12x 12 sticker sheets with phrases, labels, and words, and finally a 12x 12 double sided sheet of fun price tags.

This kit is a steal at $44.50, a 30% deal off the original price of $63.40. There is a limited quantity of kits. You really have to act fast and not delay on this great pack. We assembled two other kits one of which consists only of the 27 tags and the other of the tags and the 7 fabric ribbons. Both of these are also selling at a 30% off the original price. If the kits aren’t enough and you need just one more swatch book or album, each individual item with be sold separately and will be at a 20% off from its original price.

Lots of other scrapbook supplies as well!  We have the "Valentina" collection from Anna Griffin, "Baby Mine", "Joy of Baking" and "Wrestling" from Moxxie, "Rewind" and "Sugar Sugar" from Kaisercraft and "Sports Edition" from Teresa Collins.  The SYT Designers were working on the following this week:  Wedding, Penguins, Winter, Italy, Travel, China, Baby and Sports.   Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/1132010.html    There are 156 overstock items are 25% off – click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/1132010sale.html

Scrap Your Trip Adds 161 Items – Lots for 2010!

Well, I’ve gotten a LOT of great ideas to put in my Dream Book from all of you since Wednesday.  I have also learned a few things.

1.    You can’t ride horseback to the bottom of the Grand Canyon anymore.
2.    A cynical New Yorker told me I don’t want to be in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.  “Better to dream about being in a warm suite in the Marriott Marquis hotel overlooking Times Square wearing a fabulous slinky gown and sipping champagne.”  MUCH better!!!
3.    Maybe the Trans-Siberian Orchestra isn’t all they are cracked up to be.

I also got an e-mail from a girlfriend that has been going around called “The Bucket List”.  I thought it was appropriate to share.  I definitely have to add some of these things to my list!  Although, I can cross off 37 of the 74 listed.  Not too bad!!!

Scrap Your Trip Adds 161 Items + 161 S*A*L*E Items

“All dream, but unequally.  Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their minds, awake the next day to find that their dreams were just vanity.  But those who dream during the day with their eyes wide open are dangerous people, they act out their dreams to make them reality.” ~~Thomas Lawrence

A few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from a friend of mine.  “Buy this book and read it immediately if you haven’t already.  “The Dream Manager” by Matthew Kelly.”   My friend is one of the few people I know who reads more than me, so if he was that excited about a book, there was a reason.

It’s a whole story about dreams.  In it, he recommends that you write a list of 100 dreams and make a “Dream Book”, which is essentially a scrapbook of your dreams (no wonder I liked it!).

This book really made an impact on me.  I realized after I read it that I need new dreams.  Many of my dreams for my life were tied to my marriage and now I need new ones.  Well, that got me pretty excited!

So, I’ve been thinking about my list of 100 dreams.  It’s hard!

When did we stop dreaming?  Sure, there are little girl dreams, like being a princess like Sleeping Beauty awakened by our prince.  And ponies. :-)

But what about big girl dreams?  Somehow in life, between growing up and school and work and starting and raising a family, our dreams kind of fade away.  Until we reach the point where we don’t even know what they are anymore.  Like now.

I haven’t given myself the gift of time to sit down and make my list of 100 dreams.  But I have been thinking about it a lot.  Here are a few I can share:

•    Become a professional motivational speaker
•    Write a book
•    Go to Times Square for New Year’s Eve
•    See the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Christmas time
•    Horseback ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon
•    Take a photography class
•    Take a Caribbean vacation to a tropical paradise that I’ve never been to so I can lie in the nice warm sun.  Preferably with someone to rub suntan lotion on my back. (Hey, a girl can dream, right?!?) :-)

So, how about you?  Are your dreams alive and well?  Do they need some reviving like mine did?  Care to share any?  Post them on the blog and maybe they will give me some new ideas.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined!”~~Thoreau   Now, on to scrapbooking supplies!
New collections from BasicGrey are here!  "Origins" and "Sugar Rush".  "Origins" is very earth-toned and "Sugar Rush" is just what it sounds like…bubble-gummy!  We also have some items for the Jewish Holidays from Shalom Scrapper.   Need some new inspiration in the New Year?  Check out our new idea book from Leisure Arts, "52 More Scrapbooking Challenges".   We also have lots of new winter and 2010 celebration items from the SYT Designers.   Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/162010.html    There are 161 overstock items are 25% off – click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/162010sale.html
