My sunflower wreath is hanging on a new front door.

Many of you might remember an email I sent out in September when I moved out of the house and the kids and I moved into a condo in Celebration (a Disney master planned community).  I hung a sunflower wreath on the front door, because just like a sunflower, wherever I am planted, I will always grow to face the sun.

Condo living was new and fun and exciting at the beginning.  We had an elevator!  The condo was so much smaller and cozy!  I can take the trash to the trash room anytime I want!

Living in the community of Celebration was also really exciting in the beginning.  It’s such a small town feel, right in the middle of the city.

But after 6 months (Wow!  I can’t believe it’s been six months already!), the excitement has worn off.  We all miss living in a house with a yard.  And a garage.

And I miss my regular grocery store.  And my regular Target, Walgreens, restaurants, etc.

So, yesterday, we moved into a house.  It’s four minutes from school back in our old “neck of the woods”.  A lot of the kids’ classmates live in the neighborhood (including Lauren’s best friend) and there are a lot of other kids nearby.  And while the real estate market is not so good for homeowners right now, it’s awesome for renters!

The kids are super-duper excited.  I am excited too, but I am also really nervous.  It feels a little overwhelming right now.

Awhile ago, my scrapbook rep, Phyllis made a comment about “pink jobs” and “blue jobs”.  Everything is a “pink job” now and that kind of has me a little freaked out.  But, I’m strong and independent and I’m sure it will all be fine after we get all settled in.  It’s the only choice I have.

In an effort to make this place feel more like home, I let the kids pick out new bedding and decorations for their rooms.  I put it all together yesterday while they were at school and it was so cute to see the looks on their faces when they got home. :-)   Let the new Mommy Swatek Family adventure begin!

I just wanted to say – I received my first package from your Company and it brought me to tears. I am a HUGE fan of Michael Jackson and to be able to obtain paper to make my memory book that much more special means the WORLD to me! I am still gathering things but I will post how I use the pages when I finish them.

I am looking now at other papers/items you have to purchase. I love the ease, quality and content of your company!!

If at all possilble I would love to see some Scooby Doo scrapbook stuff. My son is a huge fane and make his birthday party invitations each year and this year will more than likely be a scooby doo themed party.

Hey Mommy Swatek…another adventure for you and the kids….how exciting and of course it’s scary. I know you will handle this new challenge head on and of course succeed. It’s what you do!!! And I am sure the kids are so happy to be in a neighborhood with their friends and so close to school. And I am happy to receive your “blogs” so I can keep track of where you are! hehehe.

I just wanted to send my very best wishes to you in your new home. Good Luck!! Stay tough. You are doing such a great job handling the challenges put to you this past year.

    Love Auntie Nancy

Julie, your tales of each new adventure brings tears to my eyes. I’ve been divorced for nearly 15 years, and so many of those life-changing experiences remain fresh in my mind and heart. The most vivid has to be the day I bought my own home, after renting ever since leaving my parents’ house. My son is off to college now, so many of these little exciting moments are just for me (like tearing out the wall-to-wall carpeting to begin restoring the hardwood floors underneath), but that’s okay. My scrapbooks these days are all about my adventures, which are usually travel-related. Looks like I need to go shopping on your site again! :-D

    Julie,
You believe God is with you, right? You have wonderful kids, right? How about friends, co-workers, employees, customers and family in your corner? Then you have very little to be nervous about! You are strong, strong in support, strong in love…..and you have ALREADY proven you can handle new situations as they come down the path! Just keep having faith in yourself and your strong support system! You will be fine….you ARE fine! Really! God bless! (and He has!)

Congrats on your new place. I look forward to hearing about the new memories that you and your family will make there.
I have been ordering from SYT for just over a year now and love it. I love the quality of the products and the ease of ordering.
One thing I would love to see is some ice fishing paper and embellisments. I live in Maine and that is huge for us in the winter, as well as snowmobiling items and paper.
Thanks again for a wonderful online place to shop for all of my scrapbooking needs.
    Sincerly,
    Heidi

Julie – Kudos on your move. I am a diehard SYT customer, and I’ve also become a huge fan of you! I admire your coiurage, strength and determination. You made a HUGE change back in Sept, and now you are continuing to grow and expand your horizons. I’m sure that you & your kids will love your new home, and I know that it was the right choice. Hang in there and keep the faith.

I love SYT! It’s the only place I shop for scrapbook supplies online. I work in Radio, so a lot of my best photos are with bands. I know you have a Music section, but I’d love it if you could expand that category. I’d be so happy to see something like “meeting the band” or even a few specific band names. In particular, I just went to the opening show of Bon Jovi’s latest tour, and I’d love to see some Bon Jovi choices.

    Thanks!
    Michelle

I remember doing the same thing in our first new house after the divorce. My daughter had a underwater theme and my son had a tiger theme. They moved into the new house after a week with their grandparents, into rooms done just for them and they were so excited. Things have broken down, or stopped working, and at first I would start to panic. My recommendation is talk to friends and neighbors now and get some names of trustworthy repairmen/women so you know who to call when something happens – because it always does. My son was able to start mowing at 13, but before then there were always older boys in the neighborhood looking to pick up a few dollars and willing to mow for me. Enjoy yet another new experience.

Remember, “Home is where you hang your hat” and “Home is where your heart is”. The building does not matter, it is the LOVE in your heart !!! God Bless You and keep you safe. RELAX and ENJOY !!!

Congrats on your new place!!! As a child of divorced parents, I can tell you that there is nothing more important for the kids than creating a safe and stable home- it looks like you are doing that for your two kids- great job!!! I always feel like we are bff when I get the SYT emails…..thanks!

Congratulations on the new house. I know you will survive all the “pink jobs”, look at how much you have done already! It is sometimes hard when everything is up to you…I am married to a trucker who is only home a few days a week, so if it breaks when he is gone, I need to fix it or replace it or do without it myself. It is a good feeling to handle the challenges, and I know you will be up to it. My last order has my shelves groaning for the moment, but thanks to SYT, I always know where to start looking for what I need.
