Moments. There are moments in life that define us. Some of them are really big moments…falling in love…the birth of a child…graduating from school. These moments we know are big moments when they occur.
But there are also moments that seem little at the time…but turn out to be a big defining moment…we just didn’t know it yet.
But all the moments of our lives…and the memories of those moments…are like boats floating in the water. Some are rowboats, some cruise ships, but most of them will float away off course unless they are anchored.
So how do we "anchor" those memories so they don’t float away into the recesses of our mind? Scrapbooking, of course!
This Saturday is National Scrapbook Day. Every year at this time I take it as my duty to remind people to "anchor" their memories through scrapbooking. And every year at this time I also take it as my duty to remind everyone that there are lots of ways to scrapbook. Not everyone scrapbooks in the same way and however you choose to preserve your memories is what is right for you. What’s important is that you do it!
Oh, and take pictures. LOTS of pictures. Because you never know which of those little moments ends up being a big moment and you want to make sure you recorded it!
I hope you spend part of your Saturday making some new memories (and anchoring them) or reliving some old ones by scrapbooking them. And whatever your scrapbooking supplies needs are for those memories, we’ve got you covered!
Kids soccer game? We have supplies for that. Trip to the beach? We have supplies for that. Pizza and movie night? We have supplies for that too. You won’t find a larger selection of travel and theme- specific scrapbooking supplies anywhere else on the planet.
And in honor of National Scrapbook Day, everything is on sale! Just use coupon code NSD2010 for 20% off your entire order, including any of our custom products. (Coupon code is valid through Friday, April 30. Cannot be used on previous orders. Cannot be combined with other offers).

I am the luckiest woman in the world

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all your words of support and encouragement on my journey into my new life. I am grateful that you allow me to share my life with you and also that you share back!
I received this wonderful story and wanted to share. It warmed my heart and I hope it does the same for you.
"We don’t know one another, but I receive your emails and have followed
your "being single" journey. I love the way you have shared the stories
of your children and your happiness in your new home. I thought I’d
share a story of my own . . .
I was married to my husband for forty
years, but the last 15 were lived more as roommates than a married
couple. I also lost two extraordinary people in my life way too soon to
cancer. I decided that I wanted (and deserved) to be happy in whatever
time I had left on this earth.
At about the same time that I
came to that conclusion, I reconnected (thru facebook) with the love of
my life when I was 12 years old. I sent a "I
don’t know if you remember me . . ." email just to say hello to an old
friend. We had not seen or spoken to one another in 50 years. The
trusting relationship that we’d shared as childhood best friends was
still intact and a wonderful email relationship began.
We got married in February. I have never been happier.
So . . .be happy in your
new home, enjoy every moment with your children (I know you do), be
proud of your amazing business accomplishments, celebrate the amazing
woman that you are, and keep your heart open. I did, and I now know
what real love feels like. I got to marry my soul mate."
If that doesn’t give you hope, I don’t know what will.:-) I have a quote on my desk that says "Soul mates are are people who bring out the best in you. They are not perfect but are always perfect for you." If you are lucky enough to have already found your soul mate, I applaud you. If you haven’t found them yet, you just never know where they are going to show up from. I wonder how many marriages Facebook gets credit for?

The other night I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water before bedtime. The kids were at Dad’s, so I was by myself. As I walked into the kitchen, I realized how happy I was. How much I love my kitchen and my house. And for the first time since I moved out on my own eight months ago, I was just fine being there by myself. Finally.
I spent a lot of time alone before I moved out on my own, so I didn’t think I was going to struggle with it as much as I did. When I lived in the condo, I would stall and stall and stall at work on the nights I had to go home to an empty house. Some nights it was tolerable and some nights it was almost unbearable. All I wanted to do at the condo was crawl in bed and watch TV.
But the house has been so different. I never knew a building could make that much of a difference. It’s just four walls, right?
Apparently not.
So, when I walked into the kitchen to get my glass of water, I realized that not only was I okay being there by myself, but I was happy. There were days when I thought that was never gonna happen.
I am so grateful that I was wrong.

Need cardstock? We are having a Bazzill sale this week! Spend $75 and you can buy all the colors your heart desires for 50% off. Just enter Coupon Code "BAZZILL" at checkout. Who’s the most creative person you have ever met? Do you know someone SO creative you are just in awe of them? That’s how I felt the first time I met Cheryl Mezzetti.
Cheryl is a true artist and lucky for us the medium she chooses to work with is scrapbooking supplies. She is the Education and Design Team Coordinator for Creative Imaginations. She is the mom to twin boys, her "assistants" and has the best Boston accent I have ever heard.
She is on the road teaching classes and we are fortunate enough to have her stop by today and make a video for us featuring some of the wonderful things you can create with the new wood products from Creative Imaginations.
Can’t wait to share it with you!
Today is the last day of our Karen Foster sale – all are marked 20% off.
Ready for a glimpse of summer? We have several new collections this week that will have you thinking of the beach in no time!
Collections include:
"All Inclusive" by Bella Blvd
"Flower Child" by Bo Bunny
“Boho Blooms” by The Paper Company
“My Family” by Fancy Pants

How did a mom with such a " I can do anything!" attitude raise two kids who have so little self-confidence?
I decided to teach my kids to ride their bikes without training wheels this weekend. Yes, I am incredibly embarassed that they are 10 and 7 and can’t ride bikes. Lauren got the hang of it pretty easily, but Logan just kept whining "I can’t do it!". Actually, Lauren spent a fair amount of time crying and saying "I can’t do it!" too.
One down and one to go!

When we were on our "staycation" at the pool. I noticed fearless 3-year olds jumping in off the sides of the pool, while my kids were all "I need my goggles!" I was never so aware of how much I babied them and sheltered them by trying to protect them.
I was inspired me to try to be a better mom. One who isn’t afraid to let her kids test their wings a little bit more.
Are you a Karen Foster fan? All Karen Foster items are 20% off until Friday, April 16th.
We have several new collections for you this week. We have "All Inclusive" by Bella Blvd – it’s fun, tropical and great for travel layouts, the bright and cheery colors of "Flower Child" by Bo Bunny (hmmm, I’ve noticed a trend in our company…my employees buying product before it even goes up for sale….BoBunny is rapidly becoming an employee fave!). We have the whimsical and feminine “Boho Blooms” by The Paper Company, “My Family” by Fancy Pants – a modern twist on scrapping heritage layouts and family adventures, “On the Edge Sports” paper and “Name of the Game” stickers by Scrappin’ Sport and More, and the stunningly beautiful “Seaside Retreat” and “Lullaby Lane” by Webster’s Pages.
The SYT Designers have been hard at work, as always – they have brought to you the following “customer inspired and impossible to find” themed designs: Germany, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Michigan, Arizona, Southwest, Fishing, Swimming, Tennis, Cooking, Kids and man’s best friend.
My team (“my team” I say in awe and amazement) has created the adorable Puppy Power collection. This line includes custom die cuts, custom paper, coordinating papers, two predesigned pages, a border elements paper, and several adorable die cuts. (Phew, they have been busy!) Here’s what I LOVE about this collection – if simple scrapping suites you best then add pictures to the predesigned pages and your layout is complete! If you want to step it up a notch then you can – simply add the puppy die cuts (which, by the way, couldn’t be any cuter), and if you really want to jazz it up then add the borders, strips of coordinating papers, buttons, bling etc.– it’s just endless! Our designers have given every type of (dog lover) scrapper a way to use this paper collection.

Eight years ago when I had a job before I started Scrap Your Trip, there were times when we would have company meetings and I would look around the room and think to myself, “Everyone who runs this company is in one room. And I AM in the room!” It was an overwhelming combination of feelings of pride, disbelief and gratitude.
The same overwhelming combination happened to me again last night. I attended the Orlando Business Journal’s 12th Annual Women Who Mean Business Awards Celebration. I was one of 39 nominees for Business Owner of the Year. Me. Nominated for Business Owner of the Year. Amazing.
I didn’t win, but I totally understand why Oscar nominees say “It’s an honor just to be nominated.”
Last night, the Orlando Business Journal also released the list of the top 25 largest woman-owned businesses in Central Florida for 2009. We are listed at number 24. My little scrapbook business I started out of my house. One of the top 25 woman-owned businesses in Central Florida. Again…amazing.
I was so overwhelmed with gratitude as I drove home last night. Gratitude for my customers, who have believed in my company and told their friends and allowed me to help them preserve their most precious memories. Gratitude for my Operations Manager and best friend, Lani, who has helped SYT become the company it is today (and made it a blast along the way). Gratitude for my staff, who every day work tirelessly to ensure that every little thing and every interaction with our customers is the absolute best it can be. And gratitude for the teachers and mentors that have shown up along the way, just at the exact time I needed them.
The woman who was named Businesswoman of the Year last night was a very eloquent speaker and said something very profound when she was speaking that I wanted to share. She said, “We have all had our 9/11 or our tsunamis. But we have all also climbed Mt. Everest or gotten Olympic gold.”
Thank you for helping me feel like I climbed Mt. Everest last night.

At the awards dinner with my banker, mentor and friend, Anne Fray
Did you get a chance to see all the new state papers and stickers from Stamping Station? They even come with eight coordinating tone on tone papers.

During the craziness of our move from the condo to our new house (can’t believe we’ve been here for six weeks already!), the kids were having a hard time transitioning. They had been handling the divorce really well, but the move seemed to throw them. So a few weeks ago we went to see a child psychologist and she had her first meeting with them last week.
Lauren told her that she had been sad at the beginning, but she was fine now. “I like new experiences, so living in two houses is fine!”
In the car over the weekend, somehow the subject of grief came up. I explained to the kids that even though they weren’t sad now, there were going to be more times that came up that they were sad again.
Lauren looked at me and said “Oh, and just so we’re perfectly clear…I don’t need to see a child psychologist.”
I swear, that girl is 10 going on 30!
I told her that I knew she wasn’t sad right now, but that grief was like waves in the ocean. Sometimes they just lap at your ankles and sometimes they push you and every once in a while, a rogue wave comes and knocks you on your butt. But that the good part was, you knew it was just a rogue wave and then the waves would go back to being small ones.
She looked at me and said “Oh, I get it. It’s like when Panther died (her cat that we had to have put to sleep). I had a tsunami of grief, but now the ocean is still.”
Tsunami of grief. My 10-year old described how she felt about her cat dying as a tsunami of grief.
Yeah, I think she’s going to grow up to be just fine.
Time for our spring die cut sale! All SYT die cuts are 20% off until Friday, April 9th.
You asked for it and we got it! A collection of all 50 states – and these collections are different and fun from previous lines that we’ve had and seen. Stamping Station outdid themselves! Each state includes an awesome diecut paper with the state name on it, a really colorful state paper, and a matching cardstock state sticker…..but they didn’t stop there! They also designed eight coordinating, tone on tone papers that can really make a difference in your layout. Now, no matter what state you explored, got lost in or were simply amazed by – there is a state paper for you!
