Scrap Your Trip 20% off all SYT Die Cuts Ends Tonight

Entry Filed under: New Items Added

Eight years ago when I had a job before I started Scrap Your Trip, there were times when we would have company meetings and I would look around the room and think to myself, “Everyone who runs this company is in one room.  And I AM in the room!”  It was an overwhelming combination of feelings of pride, disbelief and gratitude.
The same overwhelming combination happened to me again last night.  I attended the Orlando Business Journal’s 12th Annual Women Who Mean Business Awards Celebration.  I was one of 39 nominees for Business Owner of the Year.  Me.  Nominated for Business Owner of the Year.  Amazing.

I didn’t win, but I totally understand why Oscar nominees say “It’s an honor just to be nominated.”

Last night, the Orlando Business Journal also released the list of the top 25 largest woman-owned businesses in Central Florida for 2009.  We are listed at number 24.  My little scrapbook business I started out of my house.  One of the top 25 woman-owned businesses in Central Florida.  Again…amazing.

I was so overwhelmed with gratitude as I drove home last night.  Gratitude for my customers, who have believed in my company and told their friends and allowed me to help them preserve their most precious memories.  Gratitude for my Operations Manager and best friend, Lani, who has helped SYT become the company it is today (and made it a blast along the way).  Gratitude for my staff, who every day work tirelessly to ensure that every little thing and every interaction with our customers is the absolute best it can be.  And gratitude for the teachers and mentors that have shown up along the way, just at the exact time I needed them.

The woman who was named Businesswoman of the Year last night was a very eloquent speaker and said something very profound when she was speaking that I wanted to share.  She said, “We have all had our 9/11 or our tsunamis.  But we have all also climbed Mt. Everest or gotten Olympic gold.”

Thank you for helping me feel like I climbed Mt. Everest last night. :-)

Julie, congrats on your nomination. You should be proud of all your accomplishments. Thank you for having a wonderful business, and staff that is super nice and so helpful.

I loved the winner’s quote. So true.

Congratulations on being in the top 25! I’m not surprised, though. Any time I can’t find just what I want at my local scrapbooking stores, or if I’m looking for something out-of-the-ordinary, I go to your website and find what I want 99.9% of the time! Keep up the good work!

Hi, I’m happy that you are successful and feel fullfilled – that is always a beautiful thing in life especially for a woman in business. However, when you are sending your product promotions I rather see just that — what is going on with the products and not personal information. That is a good thing in this section, where if someone wants to share or see what is going on will come to see and comment.

Please send only e-mail related to the products you sell.

    Thank you.

Congrats! What an honor! I love your website…most all the scrapbooking I do is related to trips we’ve taken and you always have the largest and best selection of travel related items. One question though…is it possible for you to start carrying Quickutz dies? :)

I can’t access the SYT 20% off die cuts page today. It displays and then freezes.

congrats Julie!! You and your SYT staff are awesome and you deserve to be in the top 25 of women’s businesses. I have been with you since almost the beginning when you had it in your house…you’ve come a long way baby! I also love the quote from the winner as it is so true and gives all of us some food for thought.

Congratulations on your nomination! That is a wonderful thing and you deserve to be so proud and honored… I enjoy reading your emails and personally feel honored that you share your personal story… sometimes I can relate and it helps me to get through things knowing others are dealing with the same stuff. Have a great weekend :)
