Scrap Your Trip Adds 236 Items + 236 S*A*L*E Items

Let the summer vacations begin!

It’s another "staycation" starting on Friday for the me and the kids.  When you live in the Orlando, the "theme park capital of the world" and the house you rent has a swimming pool, there is really no reason to go anywhere else.  :-)

This "staycation" is gonna be a little different.  My boyfriend is going to join us along with his twin 4-year old girls.  My kids met his a few months ago and they have been talking about them ever since.  I don’t know whose kids are more excited!  The little girls totally bring out the mommy in Lauren and Logan is just happy to have somebody be younger than him.  :-)

We are going to do the tourist thing and visit all the parks.  Except since I live here, I know that you don’t want to go until late afternoon, once the sun starts to set and it starts to cool down just a bit.  Standing in a queue line in 100+ degree heat in the shade with four kids does not for a fun day make!

Both Sea World and Busch Gardens have some awesome deals going on now for Florida and Georgia residents.  If you pay for one day, you can get a "Fun Card" that gets you in for the rest of the year for free.  And we already have special after 4pm passes for Universal Studios.  One of the things I learned when I worked at Walt Disney World was that the way to ensure that you have a bad Disney vacation experience to try to spend the ENTIRE day in the park in the heat with kids.  It’s just fraught with peril :-)   One of the perks of living here – have passes and go for a few hours at a time.  That way everyone has fun and you don’t feel like you have to get your money’s worth in one day.

How about in your neck of the woods?  Any great "staycation" deals going on?  Let us (and everyone else) know on the blog!

Before I get to our awesome scrapbook products for the week,  I want to tell you about someone else’s business :-)

My friend "P" recently started a website selling personalized themed birthday party supplies.  They are seriously the CUTEST party decorations you will ever see!  They customize…by hand, no less…the birthday banner, party hats and favor tags with the child’s name and age.  She is an awesome party planner and this is just right up her alley.  She just got started and I remember what it was like when you went home everyday from your "real job" to see if you got any orders and excitedly pack them and send them on their merry way.

So, if you are looking for really cute and unique party supplies, click here to check her website out:  http://www.makeitmineparties.com.  Tell her Julie sent you :-)

And now, on to scrapbook supplies!

For all of you diehard Twilight fans out there – we have designed some awesome Twilight papers and die cuts just for you!  My staff is buzzing with excitement about this series so I can hardly wait to see what brilliant layouts come out of this collection!  The other part of my staff is talking wizards!  So, as not to be left out, we have "Wizardry" by Moxxie.  As you have already seen, we have great wizard die cuts that will coordinate with this collection as well!

For those of you that don’t or haven’t yet gotten into the Twilight and/or Harry Potter phenom (can’t wait to ride the new Harry Potter ride at Universal next week!), we have other options that I think you will just love! We have "Panorama" by Making Memories.  This traditional, general travel collection is perfect for adding some fun to your destination layouts…and just wait until you see our Egypt collection, "Pharaoh’s Tomb".  Our designer incorporated as many of your requests as she could, including a custom paper option.  I think all of you globetrotters will agree with me – "Pharaoh’s Tomb" looks spectacular!

We also have the brilliant teal and purple colors of "Peacock Lane" by Bo Bunny – this paper has a lot of cool patterns and vibrant colors that will make you "proud as a peacock" to use this line in your layouts.  We have Reminisce’s "Stars and Stripes" for all of your 4th of July activities and SYT has designed a picic collection, "No Ants Allowed" to round out your holiday weekend possibilities. Finally, The Girls’ Paperie, "On Holiday" is great for a little different flair to your crafting projects.

Our SYT designers have been busy little bees!  Their creativity never ceases to amaze me!  This week we have designs that include: July 4th, Summer, Family, Kids, Disney, Road Trip, Cruise, Scrapbooking, Canada, Mexico, England, Norway, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Caribbean, Bermuda, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington, Camping, Baseball, Softball, Hiking, and Rock Climbing. Our custom items this week are:  Custom Destination Border Die Cut, Custom Basketball Jersey Front Die Cut, Custom Baseball Jersey Die Cut, Custom Cruise Ship Die Cut, Pharaoh’s Tomb: Custom 12 x 12 Paper and No Ants Allowed: Custom 12 x 12 Paper.

Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/6302010.html    We also have 236 overstock items on sale at 25% off.  Click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/6302010sale.html      I want to, personally, thank each of you that have taken the time to write us a nice note about our weekly promotions.  I decided to do these promo(s) in an effort to "thank you" for shopping with SYT.  I know, especially in this day and age, that you can shop anywhere.  The fact that you choose to shop with us means a lot to me and my staff!  So from the bottom of my heart, we "THANK YOU!"  This week we are giving a free gift with any order of $59 or more between now and Friday, July 2.  (And yes, you can still use coupon code "FREESHIPPING" with this offer.)   And remember, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we can always make a custom title or paper just for you!  Click here to see all our custom options:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/custom.html   See you on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ScrapYourTrip

Scrap Your Trip “All Stuck Up” Embellishment Giveaway Ends Tonight

Thank you SO much for all of the nice things you have said about my transformation and the “Julie at 43” picture!  And to the men who commented…I know it’s not PC, but it’s okay with me to tell me I’m hot. :-)
Lots of you have asked me questions, so here’s my answers:

1.    Do I really eat cheese fries every week?  Yep!  Every Monday.  Sometimes even twice a week. :-)
2.    Where did I get my abs?  My trainer Matt said that everyone has a six-pack – it’s just usually covered up with fat.
3.    How often do you go to the gym?  The picture I posted of me and Matt was the “before” picture I had Lauren take last week.  He moved to England last August and I haven’t exercised since he left.  But he just moved back and we got started again last Monday.  So, how often?  Never.
4.    Can you lose weight without a trainer?  Absolutely!  Matt got me jumpstarted on the first 10 pounds, but after he moved, I never went back to the gym and did it all by not eating so much.
5.    How did you stop being a member of the “clean your plate club?”  This was a tough one.  It took me awhile to get over the guilt of feeling like I was wasting food if I didn’t eat everything.  But, I decided that how I felt about myself was WAY more important.  I also started ordering off the kids menu or appetizers or split my meal with someone.

This is how I summed it up to my kids:  I used to be unhappy on the inside, so I was unhappy on the outside.  But then I decided to be happy on the inside and that made me want to be happy on the outside.

If you have anymore questions, either post them on the blog or on the Scrap Your Trip Facebook page.  I will do my best to answer them all!

Scrap Your Trip Adds 246 Items + 246 S*A*L*E Items

Don’t ever believe that you can’t change your life.  Or your body.  No matter your age.

I turned 43 a few weeks ago. I think I look the best I have ever looked in my entire life.

But when I turned 42…totally different story.

I can’t believe I am gonna share this picture with you.  I posted it last year for my birthday, but I had NO idea that was what I looked like. It’s embarrassing, but I want to share because I want you to know that even if you’re over 40, it’s not too late.

Deep breath…here goes…Julie at 42     And now Julie at 43

Yes, that is my trainer, Matt, standing next to me.  He helped me with the first 10 pounds last June.  But then he moved to England (Yay!  He’s back!).  But the rest?  All me.  And as much as Matt would like me to tell you I did it through exercise, I didn’t.

When I tell people I lost 52 pounds, everyone wants to know how I did it.  So, here’s my explanation.

I stopped eating when I was full.

There.  My big secret.  But do you know how hard it is to stop eating when you are full?  Much harder than you think.  Because either there is food left on your plate, or you’re talking or watching TV and not paying attention to what you are eating.

Let’s put eating on scale of 1 to 10 – 1 being when you start eating and 10 being when you stop.  See, that’s the first problem right there.  Most people eat all the way to 10, but then you are full.  Not full, but FULL.

Here’s what I taught myself. At about 4 ½ on that scale of 1 to 10, there is a very slight feeling of fullness.  You have to pay attention to it.  So, as soon as I think to myself “I’m starting to get full,” I let myself have one more bite and then I stop eating.

But it took a little while to teach myself that.  Here’s what you learn…you would be amazed at how little it takes to fill you up.  And the portions we are served are WAY more than we need to eat.  No wonder it’s so hard to stop eating, especially if you grew up as a member of the “Children are starving in Africa, so clean your plate” club.

That’s it.  That’s how I lost 42 pounds.  And I eat anything I want.  I still eat out all the time and I eat cheese fries every Monday for lunch. :-)   Dessert anytime I want it (a max of three bites) and I never feel deprived or like I am missing out on anything.  Because I am not.

Just the feeling of disgust every time I looked at myself in the mirror.  And that is something that I don’t miss one bit.

Yes, it really is that simple.  And no, it’s not too late.  If I can transform my body from Julie at 42 to Julie at 43 in a year, so can you.

Keep me posted!

Now, on to scrapbooking!

Oh my goodness, our “Cute as a Button” baby collection is so adorable.  This line has a soft, pastel look to it and your baby’s pictures will look perfect in your layouts!  What I really love about our SYT collections is that we always try to incorporate your ideas and we always give you the ability to customize one of the papers!  Add your name, your own witty sayings, vacation destination, change the color or just about anything you can think of and you will be able to find one of our custom papers that will allow you to do it!

Yay!  We ALL loved the WeR Memory Keepers 12×12 D Ring Albums!  So, we got 4 new colors in-house – aqua, vanilla, plum and strawberry.  I have no doubt that these will be as popular as the other colors that we have.  And I think Little Yellow Bicycle said it best when they described their “Boardwalk” collection “like a stroll down the Boardwalk.  Featuring fresh, clean colors with a splash of glitter and a kick-off-your-flipflops style" – who could resist a collection like this?  LYB also designed the perfect travel collection, “Pack Your Bags,” with classic travel images and a traditional style.  If your travel takes you by way of the trails then Karen Foster has designed just the right line for you, “Camping.”  Their collection name sums it up – rustic, outdoorsy and just plain, “camping” FUN!

It’s all about the Flower Power!!!  BoBunny’s “Petal Pushers” is a fun, doodle style collection that screams FLOWER POWER!

This week we also have two new masculine collections, "Rumble" by Carolee’s Creations and “Like Father, Like Son” by Fancy Pants.

Our diecuts won’t disappoint!  We have the following remarkable designs: Beach, Summer, 4th of July, Dad, Baby, Kids, Pregnancy, Baseball, Hockey, Asia, Portugal, Monaco, Middle East, Jordan, Czech Republic, Hawaii and Nevada.  We also have new custom items for you to choose from:  Custom PROUD TO BE A… Laser Die Cut and Tiffany’s, “too cute” Custom Daisy and Ladybug Name Plate Laser Die Cut.

Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/6232010.html    We also have 246 overstock items on sale at 25% off.  Click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/6232010sale.html      The Bo Bunny "All Stuck Up" embellishment tins were so popular last time we did them as a giveaway, we decided to do it again!  They are free with any order of $59 or more between now and Friday, June 25.  And yes, you can still use coupon code “FREESHIPPING” with this offer.  :-)

Scrap Your Trip Adds 218 Items + 218 S*A*L*E Items

"Don’t let the illusions trick you." This is on a paper taped to my bathroom mirror.  I taped it there so I would read it every morning, but it’s been there for awhile and some days I don’t even see it anymore.  Actually, the piece of paper says the following:

It’s working, Julie! Every day you’re getting closer! Everything you’ve ever wanted is being pressed toward you. Everything is clicking. Don’t let the illusions trick you. Don’t let the events of today dampen your spirits. Things couldn’t be any better than they are now. You couldn’t have more reasons to celebrate. Now! Do it! The hardest work is done! Just show up, be present, open every door and let events unfold. Life is your stage. This is your parade. Together we can do anything.

I love it when you’re hot,
   The Universe
I get these awesome "Notes from the Universe" written by this guy Mike Dooley (who just happens to live in Orlando) every morning and this one came back in March, at a particularly low point in my life.  "Don’t let the illusions trick you.", it said.  "Don’t let the events of today dampen your spirits."  And it was exactly what I needed to hear that day to get me through.

They sure are tricky, those illusions, aren’t they?  Those things we tell ourselves?  The stories we make up?  I call them my "barbed wire" stories.  You know, stories that are wrapped up in barbed wire so it REALLY hurts when you play around with them in your head.. :-)   Like, "She probably doesn’t want to be friends with me anymore."  Or, "Did I say something wrong?  Why hasn’t she returned my call/text yet?"  Or, "I think he is mad at me."  Or, "I think my boss is upset with me." (At least I don’t have that one!)

I’ve done a LOT of work on myself in the last few years…the last nine months especially.  So, when I let the "illusions trick me", I tend to be pretty hard on myself.  But then…I see this taped to my bathroom mirror in the morning.  I may not have "seen" it for weeks, but all of a sudden, it’s poster board size.  "Don’t let the illusions trick you."   And I remember that people are busy living their own lives, with their own stresses and challenges, and I’m probably not even on their radar screen.  At least not in the bad way that I might think I am.  And I try to remember that my vulnerabilities and insecurities are just part of what makes me human.

So, I smile, put down my barbed wire and think to myself, "Everything you’ve ever wanted is being pressed toward you. Everything is clicking.  Just show up, be present, open every door and let events unfold."  Stop trying to control everything and "let events unfold."  Hard to do sometimes when you are as big of a control freak as I am!  But I keep working on it.  :-)

These words have been really helpful to me.  I wanted to share them in hopes that they might be helpful to you too.

Now, on to scrapbook supplies!

Can you believe that it’s Father’s Day weekend already?  We have our Father’s Day collection, “For Dad” a masculine blend of twill and argyle.  On one of our papers (SYT-3138, Frames), we designed it so that you could take two 4×6 pictures, place them in the “photo” spot, add a little journaling and voila, instant layout.    This week we also have “Dad” by Karen Foster, and for the “bug lover” in your family, the adorable "Bug-A-Boo" line by Carolee’s Creations.

Well, you KNOW how my staff loves BoBunny – this week’s new BoBunny collections are no exception.  “Sunkissed,” in Tiffany’s words, are “like a box of popsicles” – they are fun, vibrant and the line has the perfect summer colors.  “Block Party” is very versatile.  It’s picnic-“ish”, 4th of July-“ish” and is even perfect for cook-outs and summertime grillin.’ Paper Wizard has been hard at work as well.  We love their detail and the different assortment of paper that they use! And finally, we have “Summer Squash Soup” by Jillibean Soup – we think that you’ll love this collection as well.

My SYT Designers have designed a wide variety of die cuts this week: Father’s Day, Summer, Kids, Romance, Hockey, Soccer, France, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Fiji, USA, Georgia, Arkansas, Nevada, and Arizona. We also have new custom items for you to choose from:  Custom Police Badge Die Cut and the Custom World’s Greatest Die Cut.  We have brought back the Custom Hockey Jersey Die Cut (Go BlackHawks!) and the Custom Soccer Ball Die Cut for you World Cup enthusiasts.

Click here to see all the new items:  www.scrapyourtrip.com/6162010.html    We also have 218 overstock items on sale at 25% off.  Click here to see:  http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/6162010sale.html      The 3-D foam square dots that are so popular in-house at SYT are back by popular demand.  We are giving a free pack out to any order of $59 or more between now and Friday, June 18.  And yes, you can still use coupon code “FREESHIPPING” with this offer.

Scrap Your Trip Adds 225 Items + 225 S*A*L*E Items

Last night I was lying in bed watching “Deadliest Catch” on the Discovery Channel.  It’s a reality show about Alaskan crab fisherman.  I just love that show!  It seems to often be on when I am watching my 10 minutes of TV before I go to bed at night.  I know all the boats and all the captains.  It’s a toss-up for me between Sig of the Northwestern and Jonathan of the Time Bandit for my favorite captain.

Last night, Phil from the Cornelia Marie was showing his son how to read charts for the first time and showed him where his “secret” fishing ground spot was.  It was where he had made a name for himself in the crab industry 12 years ago.  Many of these fisherman are second and third generation.  It’s in their blood.

It really made me think about the Gulf fisherman.  For many of them, fishing has been in their families for generations.  And this may very well be the last generation, based on the disaster that is occurring in the Gulf.  I’ve read many accounts of grown men crying in front of their sons and grandsons as they realize the devastation and try to explain to them that their way of life is over…that what they have wanted to be their whole lives when they grow up isn’t gonna happen.

How do we help these people?  I have been searching for an organization to donate to, but this isn’t like when there is a hurricane and the American Red Cross steps in to help.

Please share any thoughts or ideas with us on the blog.  Thanks!

Now, on to scrapbook supplies!

We have several new collections for you this week.  We have "Graduation" by K and Company – it’s colorful and different than all the other black and white options that we’ve had so far.  We have “Thrift Shop” and “Fly a Kite” by October Afternoon.  These collections remind me of "back in the day" – you know, when your grandparents would tell you about when they were little and how "back in their day, bread was only a nickel" and how "back in their day they would have to walk 5 miles to school in the snow"…awww…fond memories.
I know that I say it often, but I really do love Creative Imaginations! “Birthday Bliss” and “Inspired Traveler” are a perfect example of why.  The colors they use, the designs in the paper and the embellishments in these collections can make someone making their first layout look like they’ve been scrapbooking forever!  We have the sweet and nostalgic look of “Fresh Print Clothesline” by Little Yellow Bicycle, and “The Wild”by Reminisce.
Birdittude – our SYT paper collection this week…our designers had a good time with this one!  It’s playful and fun with a dose of attitude – parents, sound like anyone you know?
The SYT Designers have designed some really great die cuts this week ranging from: Beach, Summer, Memorial Day, Graduation,Theme Park, Italy, Greece, Hawaii, Family, Baby, Kids, Paintball, Baseball, Weight loss, to Scrapbooking.  But if you have been anywhere near Tuscany you have to take a look at our Tuscany die cut (SYT-7375) – it’s simply amazing! (Way to go, Tiff!)  Our new custom items for you to choose from are :  Custom That’s It- I’m Going to Laser Die Cut, Custom Baseball Star 12 x 12 Layout Laser Die Cut and our Custom Grunge Name 12 x 12 Paper.

Scrap Your Trip Adds 277 New Items + 277 S*A*L*E Items This Week

“What Would You Do?”

This is the title of a show on TV on ABC.  I caught the tail end of it a couple of weeks ago and it’s been on my mind ever since.  The show sets up situations to test human behavior.  The two experiments I saw were an actor posing as a pilot getting drunk in an airport bar before he was getting ready to fly and people harassing a grocery store clerk with Down ’s syndrome.  In both cases, most bystanders do nothing.  They don’t want to get involved.

After watching it, I asked myself the question “what would I do?”  I hope that I would do the right thing, but I guess you never know until something happens.

Well, something happened the other day and honestly, my reaction kind of surprised me a little bit.

I was in the bathroom at a park with the kids.  Some guy, obviously the dad of a girl in the bathroom, opened the door and started screaming, “What’s taking you so long?!?  Would you hurry it up?!?  Are you that stupid and slow that it takes you that long?!?”

Well, the word stupid was all it took.  NOBODY should call a kid stupid for ANY reason.  So, I said loudly, “Would you please stop yelling?”  Now, I did this from the safety and anonymity of a bathroom stall, but still…”stupid” brought out the mama bear in me.

So, something to think about today….”what would you do”?  The show is on ABC if you want to check it out.

Did you have a chance to check out our exclusive theme park collection that we debuted on Wednesday?  Or the items from our new vendor Echo Park Paper?  Just a few of the over 270 brand spankin’ new items brought to you this week, courtesy of the SYT product team.  Each and every week I think they do an amazing job of scouting out the best products just for you! :-)

Scrap Your Trip Adds 277 Items + 277 S*A*L*E Items

Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes!  I just love birthdays – all sorts of good wishes sent your way!
Last year I said that my birthday was the most fun I have ever had on my birthday.  But this year blew last year away!

The kids made me presents this year instead of heading to the mall.  Lauren, my budding artist, made me a pillow with a drawing of a beach scene on one side and “Happy Birthday Mommy!” on the other.  Logan lent his artistic talents to the wooden jewelry box he painted for me.  Pink and purple – my favorite colors!

I got to spend the whole day with my new beau.  It’s really cool when your birthday is a holiday – no work for either of us.  We had a late dinner the night before and then went out dancing until the wee hours in the morning.  Then lunch sitting outside at a cute little French restaurant and Mexican and margaritas for dinner.

He bought me a really nice pair of sunglasses for my birthday.  He said he knew I wore them all the time and that would make me think of him when I wore them.  Aww! :-)   And a really cool picture frame that he said he hoped I would fill with a picture of us.  He got a matching one for himself.  After dinner we were up talking until 4:00 in the morning.  And I could have talked a few more hours!

I do believe 43 is going to be a very good year! :-)

Now, on to scrapbook supplies!

This week we have a new vendor – Echo Park Paper.  “Sweet Summertime” – it’s fun, it’s sweet, it’s cute – you’re going to love this vendor as much as we do already.   The other really great thing about Echo Park is that they are planning on releasing a new collection every month….be on the look-out for more really great, new themed collections by them.  We also have a baby line by Little Yellow Bicycle, “Snuggle Bug Boy” and “Snuggle Bug Girl”, “New Mama” and “Cowboy” and “Cowgirl” by Creative Imaginations, and "Amusement Park" by Karen Foster.

One of Tiffany’s favorites this week is “Wild Life” by KI Memories.  The diecut paper (zebra stripes outlined in lime green) is (in HER words) “freakin’ adorable.”  The papers in this collection are vibrant and the animals are cute and silly and not going to scare anyone.  She also loves the different pieces that KI made as part of this collection – especially the journaling tags…..here’s her *TIP* for using these and WHY she loves them so much.  She (1)uses the tags in the intended collection, (2)cut’s them in half and uses them as embellishments on her layout, (3)the “look” can be coordinated with other papers that she has to then give them an entirely different look AND (4)since she also makes cards – she incorporates these journaling tags into her cards – WOW!

The SYT Designers have been hard at work, as always – they have brought to you the following awesome designs: Disney, Canada, Germany, Scotland, Africa, Rhode Island, Colorado, Sailing, Hiking, Dance, Cooking, Gardening, Romance, Kids and Retirement.  We also have new custom items for you to choose from:  Custom Aged to Perfection Die Cut, Custom Lookout Boy 12 x 12 Paper and Custom Lookout Girl 12 x 12 Paper.  The Custom Paper idea comes from all of the kids being so excited about “graduating” to the next grade…I’m not so sure that the “next grade” is ready for them!

Our theme park collection this week is going to make all you park goers really happy!  We have designed “Around the World,” “On the Lot,” “In the Wild,” and “Fairy Tale Wishes” – there are two papers for each park, creating a double page layout.  I know I gush every week about my design team – but I just can’t help it – they ARE amazing!
