Scrap Your Trip Adds 225 Items + 225 S*A*L*E Items
Last night I was lying in bed watching “Deadliest Catch” on the Discovery Channel. It’s a reality show about Alaskan crab fisherman. I just love that show! It seems to often be on when I am watching my 10 minutes of TV before I go to bed at night. I know all the boats and all the captains. It’s a toss-up for me between Sig of the Northwestern and Jonathan of the Time Bandit for my favorite captain.Last night, Phil from the Cornelia Marie was showing his son how to read charts for the first time and showed him where his “secret” fishing ground spot was. It was where he had made a name for himself in the crab industry 12 years ago. Many of these fisherman are second and third generation. It’s in their blood.
It really made me think about the Gulf fisherman. For many of them, fishing has been in their families for generations. And this may very well be the last generation, based on the disaster that is occurring in the Gulf. I’ve read many accounts of grown men crying in front of their sons and grandsons as they realize the devastation and try to explain to them that their way of life is over…that what they have wanted to be their whole lives when they grow up isn’t gonna happen.
How do we help these people? I have been searching for an organization to donate to, but this isn’t like when there is a hurricane and the American Red Cross steps in to help.
Please share any thoughts or ideas with us on the blog. Thanks!
Now, on to scrapbook supplies!
We have several new collections for you this week. We have "Graduation" by K and Company – it’s colorful and different than all the other black and white options that we’ve had so far. We have “Thrift Shop” and “Fly a Kite” by October Afternoon. These collections remind me of "back in the day" – you know, when your grandparents would tell you about when they were little and how "back in their day, bread was only a nickel" and how "back in their day they would have to walk 5 miles to school in the snow"…awww…fond memories.
I know that I say it often, but I really do love Creative Imaginations! “Birthday Bliss” and “Inspired Traveler” are a perfect example of why. The colors they use, the designs in the paper and the embellishments in these collections can make someone making their first layout look like they’ve been scrapbooking forever! We have the sweet and nostalgic look of “Fresh Print Clothesline” by Little Yellow Bicycle, and “The Wild”by Reminisce.
