Hello from Idaho!

Let me tell you, until you’ve travelled with four kids catty-corner across the country…from Florida to Washington State…and had over a two-hour layover…you just haven’t traveled!

My boyfriend invited me and the kids to go with him and his kids to visit his parents.  And all kidding aside, the trip went pretty well.

All three of the girls colored almost the whole first flight.  Lauren just loves having the little girls look up to her and they can’t get enough of her either.  Logan got his Mommy all to himself and was able to watch the movies he wanted instead of Barbie movies, so he was happy.  And I got to read a magazine.  All the way through!

We had a layover in Denver and when I told Lauren, she asked if we could go outside and play in the snow.  Denver equals snow to her and I had to laugh as I explained to her that it was summer there and there’s not always snow in Denver. (*smile*)

Today is the first day of our trip and his parents have lots of things planned for us to do.  Not my typical “Wake up and see what I feel like doing today” vacation, but I am looking forward to it.  So are my kids.  They have been excited for weeks.  They keep saying, “We’ve never been to Idaho before!”

When we got here, Lauren kept saying, “Look!  An Idaho tree!  An Idaho bush!  An Idaho rock!”

But the excitement quickly gave way to what always happens with her on the first day or so anytime we go anywhere:  “I don’t like traveling!  I want to go home!”  But when it’s time to leave, she won’t want to go.

This is how she’s been ever since I can remember.  I keep hoping she will outgrow it.  Maybe by our next trip.

I’ll let you know on Friday how it’s going!

This week we’ve done something a little different – we’ve had Tiffany design a layout and card using one of the new collections, Imaginisce’s “Apple Cider.” Everyone (including me) stood around watching her come up with these amazing designs and “ooo’d” and “ahhhhh’d” over how she took papers, ink pads, flowers and ribbons – cut them, punched them, sprayed them and glued them – inspiring us all to go home and get scrappin’!

OK!  I’m so excited that my mind is going a million miles a minute….do you see the really cute pumpkin snuggled into the cluster on the layout and on the front of the card??? Well, that pumpkin is a stamp – I KNOW, can you believe it?  I was so inspired by watching Tiffany that this week’s promo is any order of $59 or more between now and August 13th gets THAT free “pumpkin” stamp!

This “Apple Cider” collection is “beyond cute.”  Some of the papers have varnish on them, adding an entirely different look to them…the denim fabric stickers add a whole new texture to your layouts and the epoxy leaves….oooh those “epoxy leaf stickers” – we love them!  The leaves are epoxy but not the smooth epoxy like we are use to…these actually have indentations that follow the leaf veins!  For those of you that already love using glimmer mist, Tiff used glimmer mist to spray the flowers (which you may not be able to see in the pictures but add a really beautiful glimmer to them).  Most of the products that she used for the layout and card are also available this week.

We also have the beautiful and elegant look of “Beloved” by Creative Imaginations.  And to round out what’s new from our vendors, we have Karen Foster’s following themes: “Cat”, “Dog”, “Hunting” and “Football.”  As a side note, we have decided to put the Karen Foster state plates back up this week due to so many of you having difficulty adding them to your cart last week.

Our new SYT collections are “Lil Birdie Told Me” and “Seaside.”  The first collection is a fun, sweet, “don’t take yourself too serious” kind of collection while the second is one that creates a calming, peaceful and serene feeling using watercolors and a stamping effect to your layout.

The SYT Designers continue to bring ideas to life in ways that aren’t available anywhere else! *smile*: Summer, Kids, Cruise, Birthday, Disney, Gardening, Baseball, Soccer, New York, New Jersey, Slovakia, Korea, South Africa, Asia, and Peru. We also have new custom items for you to choose from:  Custom Blue Years Old Laser Die Cut, Custom Girl Years Old Laser Die Cut, Custom Ferris Wheel 12 x 12 Paper and Custom Beach Vacation 12 x 12 Paper.

Are you in Washington or Idaho? If you are flying home out of SeaTac airport you are in easy driving distance of two of your longest forum members. I live east of airport and Kathy J – originally Graykat and later Bookjoy lives south of it. If you have time to see us at airport for a few minutes when returning home left me know…I’ll meet you. Lord knows we have been trying to get you to come here for the last few years :-) . I am sending a private facebook message to give you my contact info….my second pm in two days for you.

    Julie,

I live in Washington state. Where are you heading. I live in Eastern Washington the Tri-Cities to be exact between Spokane and Yakima. I follow and LOVE your work. Hope your enjoying your time in the “Evergreen” state. We live in the desert portion. I bet you didn’t know there was a desert in Washington.

I absolutely love your products, especially the diecuts. They’ve added so much to my pages and are high quality. I’ve recommended your site to several people, including local scrapbook stores. I look forward to all your new items when they come out.

My curiosity has the best of me. I am wondering where in Idaho/Washington you are? Every summer I travel from Orlando, FL to Spokane, WA and drive 2 hours to Priest Lake, Idaho. If you are near Priest Lake, it’s worth a trip. I understand all too well that cross country airplane trip. Have a great vacation.

I just wanted to tell you that I hope for your sake too that Lauren outgrows her “traveling” issues but I am 48 years old and unfortunately, I can relate to Lauren. I’ve always liked to see new places but hate the getting there and when I get there, I want to go home. Then after being there a while, I don’t want to go home either……My parents have never understood it when I was young and still today, my husband doesn’t either. I just think that we should be able to teleport like they do on StarTrek. It’d make life so much simpler and in my case and Lauren’s, happier. Anyway, hope you are enjoying your trip.

Cross country airplane trip is heaven compared to driving from Seattle to Florida and back…used to do it every few years in my younger day with toddlers until they were teens, without air conditioning…good memories and some really bad ones :-)

I’ve lived in Idaho for 30 years, so I hope you enjoyed visiting my state. Were you in Boise, Sun Valley, McCall, Couer d’Alene? Tell us more about your ID adventures, and thanks for letting us into your life.
