“Would you ever take a journey, Julie, if you knew ahead of time that you’d become hopelessly lost, have your heart broken into pieces, and sometimes wish you’d never been born? Now, how about if you knew ahead of time that on that very same journey you’d also find yourself, fall passionately in love, and live happily ever after? Yeah, I know, you made the same choice a long, long time ago.”Every morning I receive an email from the Universe. “Notes from the Universe,” that is – a daily inspirational email from Mike Dooley, who happens to live in Orlando.
Sometimes they are funny and sometimes they seem to not apply to my life. And sometimes…it’s like they were written just for me. Like Mike knows what is going on in my life and is sending me a message.
I received the message above in January. It has been on my computer monitor ever since.
When I received that message, I was still in the first part of the journey. I had just spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning by myself because the kids were with their Dad. I felt exactly like it said…”hopelessly lost and sometimes wishing I had never been born.”
I would look at that message on my monitor and try to get to a place of knowing that the second part of the journey was coming. Exactly on time and not a moment too soon or a moment too late. But my heart was broken into a million pieces and some days I was unsure if I was gonna make it.
They call the first year of divorce the “transition year.” I have come to the end of that journey.
And just like The Universe told me in January, I have found myself. A strength I didn’t know I had. I have removed a lot of layers of myself and uncovered the real me that had gotten covered up over many years.
And I have fallen passionately in love. I thought I knew what love was when I was married. I have discovered a whole new level and depth that I didn’t’ know existed.
And I know I will live happily ever after. (*smile*)
The last year has been the most amazing, most painful, most exciting, most frustrating, most grow-more-than-I-ever-thought-was-possible year of my life.
Thanks for being on the journey with me.
Now, let’s talk about some scrapbooking supplies! · “I love your paper BUT how do I use it?” · “I love your paper BUT I don’t want to cover the pictures, what should I do?
· “I scrap in two page layouts, how do I use your paper for that?”
Since we have started showing layouts, we thought we would answer some of the most frequent questions we get about using our own SYT papers. We did this by having Tiffany show you how she used some of our papers, die cuts and other products to create an awesome football layout. One of the things I love about this layout is that it looks like someone zoomed in with their camera and snapped a shot of the football lying on the field!

This week we also have the travel themed collection, “Wander” by Basic Grey. The really great thing about this line (and all of the Basic Grey lines) is that there are so many different papers – the uses for this collection are endless: night out with the girls, trip over seas, learning to drive/first car and even geo-caching.

Speaking of collections that can have multiple purposes – check out “Haunted” by MyMindsEye. The following two layouts are created using this collection. The first layout is the “expected” while the second layout demonstrates a whole new way to look at this line.

As summer comes to an end, Reminisce gives each of us a perfect opportunity to use some of our summer pictures by using their “Real Magic” collection or their “Wave Crashers” line. Whether you visited a theme park, traveled to a tropical location or spent time on the beach, you’ll find something that will work for capturing your perfect summer memories. As we move out of summer, go back to school and straight into Fall (if only in my mind) we have Karen Foster’s “Preschool”, “School”, “Autumn” and “Thanksgiving” collections.
Can you feel the snow hanging in the air? (*smile*) We have the Cottage Christmas collection by Imaginisce. Tiffany took the holly stamp, inked it (using the Distressed Ink), cut it – cut up Zva crystals, punched, folded, glued and wa-la, you have the masterpiece below!

Our SYT collection this week, “By the Shore” is a completely different take on what a beach collection “normally” looks like. It’s serene and feels a little like you are looking into a “beach reserve” that has been untouched and simply exists in its natural state – simply beautiful.
The SYT Designers have been hard at work – they have brought to you the following designs: Beach, Summer, School, Baby, Road Trip, Romance, Scrapbooking, Halloween, Cats, Dogs, Football, Nascar, England, Africa, Iowa, Wyoming and Alaska. We also have new custom items for you to choose from: Custom I Walk For…Laser Die Cut and School Spirit Custom 12 x 12 Paper.
**Remember, all of the pieces that were used in these layouts can be found following the collection

Hi Julie, it was wonderful to read your post today! I too was divorced and went thru those same feelings (it was a long time ago but I still remember!). I do feel like a totally different – and better – person. Unlike you, I did not fall in love (altho I’m only 62 so there is still time ha ha) but I’m so glad for you. It’s sad to see a marriage end, and I always hate it for my children (who are now grown with children of their own), but I think they are much better off than if we had stayed with their dad. I hope things will continue to be good for you!!

Hi Julie & SYT Staff!! Unfortunately I won’t be able to participate in the Webinar so I thought I would post a few comments here. I honestly don’t think I could make any suggestions on how to make SYT any better than it already is. You already carry a huge line of products, have terrific sales every week, free shipping. Your own line of SYT papers and diecuts are the best and, in fact, keep getting better and better. Your website is great fun and I always enjoy browsing through, putting things in my wish list, and ORDERING!! I think it actually frightens my husband when I announce it’s time to empty my SYT wish list, LOL!! Thank you for the great customer service and just keep doing everything you are already doing.

Hi Julie,
I would like the email address of “Notes from the Universe” if you can give it out. After over 30 years of marriage I’m filing for divorce. I’ve been unhappy for the past 15 years and I don’t want to live the next 20 years like this, so I am done. You’ve shared several of Mike’s Notes from the Universe that have touched me. I know the decision I’ve made won’t be easy but it’s the right one for me. My boss even commented on how my attitude has changed since I’ve made the decision to end my marriage.

Been there (married), done that (divorced), but did not scrap it (ha ha)! I also, could not see the end of the hurt and disappointment in dreams ending back then and never thought I would get through it let alone be happy. Today, I laugh about it – I am happy with who I am and know that the divorce experience taught me a lot about myself. I learned to survive on my own and that I am stronger than I ever thought…and no one can take that feeling away from me.

Your comments have moved me. I too am divorced and actually run a scrapbooking store online too and sell some of the same products. So I guess we are bit of competitors, but in the grand scheme of things I’m always proud to see others do so well. As we are not as big as your store Julie, I appreciate what you said and also really like your site. I too am stronger than I ever thought I could be and have learned to enjoy live and grow from every experience. To your success and thanks for the post.
