Dec. 8, 2011 Ornaments

Christmas Ornaments:

Reminisce created these adorable little ornaments with their new Vintage Christmas collection “Dear Santa”

You can create these in 4 simple steps:

1. Cut out the icons you love and glue to chipboard.
2. Cut around the paper you glued to chipboard.
3. Use nail file to sand edges for a finished look.
4. Punch a hole and add ribbon or string.

Optional: Add ink, bling, buttons or other embellies in your stash to complete the look.

Dec.7, 2011 Wine Bookmarks

Want a great project you can make using just 1 sheet of paper? Make a bookmark! I got inspired to make one to pay homage to the wine country while perusing the racks here at SYT. Take a look!! :)

I used the Simply Red 12 x 12 Double-Sided Shimmer Paper by Reminisce Simply Red 12 x 12 Double-Sided Shimmer Paper by Reminisce paired beautifully with some embellishments I already had. A 12×12 paper is perfect for making a lovely 6 inch long bookmark.

Just cut a long strip in the width you’d like (I use 2″ when I make my bookmarks), and fold it over onto itself, glue it together, and punch a hole for your ribbon! Couldn’t be easier!

Love these? Well, guess what? YOU CAN WIN ONE! We’ll be giving one of these to 2 lucky winners! Just post here or on our facebook page with your thoughts on this project or your favorite wine-related memory, and you’ll be entered to win! (you can be entered twice if you post in both places!!)
Good luck! Winners will be announced on facebook on Dec. 9, 2011

Dec. 5, 2011 Fun Times Ahead

I made this card a little while ago for my mother’s birthday. I would have shared it with you when I made it, but it would have been on the blog before she received it…didn’t want for her not to be surprised!

My favorite things about this card was the flower on the front – and this flower was SO easy and fun to make!
For the flower, I used the sweet punch by EK Success: Doily Slim Petal Punch. When you punch it, there’s one strip of paper holding all the petals together for you to wrap up to create beautiful flowers quickly, but I had to break the mold a little and cut all my petals free of the strip, and pin them together using a cute brad. I would recommend using a thinner paper (so your flower doesn’t get too thick and you can have more petals!!).

I hope this gives you all some inspiration! As always, you can share your great layouts, card, and other ideas here or on our facebook page !
See ya next time! :)

Nov. 23, 2011 Digital Card

Digital Card:

Hey guys! I don’t know how many of you caught our Friday email, but we have introduced a number of cool holiday card treatments for you, and I wanna share one of those with you guys today!

The paper being used for this project is:
Merry Christmas Four Card Page
or, for those digital scrapbookers, we have: Merry Christmas 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch Card
Also, for your card base, use your favorite paper (cardstock or double sided pattern papers are nice. If you use a double-sided paper, make sure one of the sides is plain enough that you can write a message from you and your loved ones clearly inside!), cut a strip that is 5 1/2″ wide and 8 1/2″ long. Fold over (use a scoring board, like this one Scoring Board from Martha Stewart Crafts, or a bone folder for a nice crease) to make the card.

Just trim your favorite holiday photo to 2 3/8″ x 3 1/8″to fit in the frame. If you did this digitally, you’ll just make your photo fit in the frame, or make it fit in that frame as you like (we have one file with the solid white inside the frame AND one file with a transparent window so you can lay it over your picture in your favorite editing program!). I would use pop dots or any foam dimensional adhesive to make the photo pop off the page.

Next, trim out your card (or print it, if you’ve been working digitally). The size of the card will perfectly line up with the front of your card! Just glue it down, and you’ve got a lovely holiday card.

I used red cardstock, so I personalized the inside of my card using a white pen (It was a Uni-ball Signo White pigment ink pen).

Can’t wait to see what holiday cards you make! Please, share your photos with us! Just post them on our Facebook page! Click here!
